Abstract

Embodiments of the present invention comprise systems, methods and devices for modifying and managing documents with an application that receives input from an imaging device.

Claims

1. A method for imaging device remote document modification, said method comprising:

a) sending a form file request from an Imaging Device (IDev) user interface (UI) to an application;

b) receiving display content at said IDev, said display content comprising a list of available forms;

c) sending a form selection from said IDev to said application;

d) receiving form field prompt content at said IDev;

e) obtaining a field data entry in response to said form field prompt content at said IDev;

f) sending said field data entry in response to said form field prompt content from said IDev to said application; and

g) receiving, at said IDev, a completed form, wherein said completed form is generated by appending said field data entry to a form file representing said form selection thereby creating said completed form.

2. A method as described in claim 1 further comprising requesting file data from a remote resource where form files are stored.

3. A method as described in claim 1, wherein said display content is formatted in a markup language.

4. A method as described in claim 1, wherein said form field prompt content is formatted in a markup language.

5. A method as described in claim 1 further comprising sending a user identification to said application from said IDev for the purpose of filtering said list of available forms based on said user identification.

6. A method as described in claim 1, wherein said application is remote to said IDev.

7. A method as described in claim 1, wherein said application resides on said IDev.

8. A method as described in claim 1, wherein said form file is a printer-ready file and said field data entry is appended as a markup language tag.

9. A method for imaging device remote document modification, said method comprising:

a) receiving form field prompt content at an Imaging Device (IDev), wherein said form field prompt content corresponds to at least one field in a form;

b) sending a field data entry in response to said form field prompt content; and

c) receiving, at said IDev, a completed form, wherein said completed form comprises said field data entry appended to a form file representing said form.

10. A method as described in claim 9 further comprising printing said completed form at said IDev.

11. A method as described in claim 9 wherein said form field prompt content is formatted in a markup language.

12. A method as described in claim 9 wherein said field data entry is formatted in a markup language when it is appended to said form file.

13. A method for imaging device remote document modification, said method comprising:

a) sending a form availability request from an Imaging Device (IDev) to an application;

b) receiving a form selection prompt, wherein in said form selection prompt comprises formatted form availability data;

c) sending a form selection that identifies a form from said IDev to said application, wherein said form selection is based on said form availability data;

d) receiving a field data entry prompt at said IDev, said prompt being related to at least one field in said identified form; and

e) sending a field data entry, in response to said field data entry prompt;

from said IDev to said application;

f) receiving a completed form comprising a form file representing said identified form combined with said field data entry.

14. A method as described in claim 13 wherein said form selection prompt is formatted in a markup language.

15. A method as described in claim 13 wherein said field data entry prompt is formatted in a markup language.

16. A method as described in claim 13 further comprising sending a user identification to said application for filtering said available form data based on said user identification.

17. A method as described in claim 13 wherein said application is remote to said IDev.

18. A method as described in claim 13 wherein said application resides on said IDev.

19. A method as described in claim 13 wherein said form file is a printer-ready file and said field data entry is appended as a markup language tag.

20. A method as described in claim 13 further comprises printing said completed form on said IDev.
