Abstract

A method for selling items by a vendor in a shopping venue includes steps of: receiving a first signal from a mobile information processing device, the signal including a list of items of interest; and transmitting a second to the mobile information processing device, the second signal indicating that at least one of the items of interest from the list is available in the shopping venue.

Claims

1. A method of selling items in a store to a shopper in possession of a mobile information processing device, the method comprising steps of:

receiving a first signal from the mobile information processing device, said first signal comprising information including a list of items of interest; and

transmitting a second signal to the mobile information processing device, said second signal indicating a location of items of interest from the list in the store.

2. The method of claim 1 wherein transmitting the second signal comprises transmitting a signal for causing a lighting device associated with an item of interest to light up.

3. The method of claim 2 wherein transmitting the second signal further comprises causing a lighting device associated with an item of interest to flash on and off.

4. The method of claim 1 wherein transmitting the second signal comprises causing a lighting device associated with an item of interest to display a unique signal to distinguish the item of interest from other items of interest selected by other mobile information processing devices.

5. The method of claim 2 wherein the item of interest lights up when the mobile information processing device is within a specified range of the item of interest such that the item of interest is within line of sight of the shopper.

6. The method of claim 1 further comprising the steps of

sorting a list of items of interest based on location of the items along a predefined route in the store;

and

generating a route map indicating the location of the items of interest in the list.

7. The method of claim 6 wherein the generating step further comprises dynamically re-computing the route map responsive to a deviation in an order of selection of items along the route.

8. A method of selling items by a vendor in a shopping venue comprising the steps of:

receiving a first signal from a mobile information processing device, said first signal comprising information including a list of items of interest;

transmitting a second signal to the mobile information processing device, said second signal indicating that at least one of the items of interest from the list is available in the shopping venue.

9. The method of claim 8 wherein the transmitting step further comprises transmitting the second signal comprising a price of the at least one item.

10. The method of claim 8 wherein the transmitting step further comprises transmitting a location of the at least one item.

11. The method of claim 9 wherein the transmitting step further comprises transmitting a third signal indicating that the at least one item of interest is selling at a reduced price.

12. The method of claim 8 wherein the information comprises an offering price for the item of interest.

13. The method of claim 12 wherein the transmitting step further comprises transmitting another signal responsive to the offering price.
