Abstract

A method of presenting still image data on multiple display devices using a wireless home entertainment hub comprises obtaining a registration of a plurality of devices with the wireless home entertainment hub, where the plurality of devices includes at least two display devices. An assignment of a zone for each display device of the at least two display devices is received. Still image data is caused to be displayed on a subset of the at least two display devices.

Claims

1. A method of presenting still image data on multiple display devices using a wireless home entertainment hub, the method comprising:

(a) obtaining a registration of a plurality of devices with the wireless home entertainment hub, wherein the plurality of devices includes at least two display devices;

(b) receiving an assignment of a zone for each display device of the at least two display devices; and

(c) causing still image data to be displayed on a subset of the at least two display devices.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein different still image data is caused to be displayed in different zones of the home entertainment system.

3. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

(d) causing different still image data to be displayed on the subset of display devices at a time interval after the still image data displayed in step (c).

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the display device is a flat panel display.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein more than one display device is assigned to the same zone.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein one or more of the display devices located in the same room are assigned to different zones.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein step(c) includes transmitting an instruction to a source device registered with the wireless home entertainment hub to transmit the still image data to the subset of display devices.

8. The method of claim 7, wherein the source device is a personal computer.

12. The method of claim 1, wherein step(c) includes transmitting by the wireless home entertainment hub the still image data stored in the wireless home entertainment hub.

9. The method of claim 1278 wherein the personal computer includes stored images.

10. The method of claim 9, wherein the stored images are comprised a collection of still images gathered by a user on a storage medium accessible by the personal computer.

11. The method of claim 9, wherein the stored images are comprised of a pre-packaged collection of still images accessible by the personal computer.

13. A method of presenting still image data on multiple display devices using a wireless home entertainment hub, the method comprising

(a) obtaining a registration of a plurality of devices with the wireless home entertainment hub, wherein the plurality of devices includes at least two display devices;

(b) causing video program content to be displayed by a first display device of the at least two display devices;

(c) causing still image data to be displayed by at least one other display device of the at least two display devices.

14. The method of claim 13, further comprising:

(d) causing different still image data to be displayed after a time interval by the at least one other display device.

15. The method of claim 14, wherein the time interval is predetermined.

16. The method of claim 14, wherein the time interval is random.

17. The method of claim 13, wherein the still image data presented on at the least one other display device corresponds to video program content being presented in the home entertainment system on the first display device.

18. The method of claim 17, where the still image data is one or more video frames captured from a presentation stream including the video program content being presented on the first display device.

19. The method of claim 13, wherein causing the video program content to be displayed includes transmitting an instruction to a source device registered with the wireless home entertainment hub to transmit the video program content to the first display device.

20. The method of claim 13, wherein causing the still image data to be displayed includes transmitting one or more video frames captured from a presentation stream including the video program content to the at least one other display device.

21. The method of claim 20, wherein a subset of the at least one other display device is used to display the still image data if the number of display devices required to present the still image data is less than the number of the at least one other display device.

22. The method of claim 20, wherein different still image data is displayed by each of the at least one other display device.

23. The method of claim 22, wherein the different still image is displayed at a different time by each of the at least one other display device.

24. The method of claim 13, wherein the still images data is obtained from an Internet address included as supplemental data in a presentation stream including the video program content.
