Abstract

Systems, methodologies, media, and other embodiments associated with an icon-based healthcare patient care system are described. One exemplary system embodiment includes an icon-based healthcare patient care system comprising an association data store that stores association information between a category and at least one icon; and, a patient care logic configured to provide icon-based healthcare information based on selection information received from a user.

Claims

1. An icon-based healthcare patient care system, comprising:

an association data store that stores association information between a category and at least one icon; and

,

a patient care logic configured to provide icon-based healthcare information based on selection information received from a user.

2. The icon-based healthcare patient care system of claim 1, further comprising an input logic configured to receive the selection information from the user.

3. The icon-based healthcare patient care system of claim 1, where the input logic comprises a voice recognition engine and the selection information is based on a voice input.

4. The icon-based healthcare patient care system of claim 1, where the selection information is based on a pointing device.

5. The icon-based healthcare patient care system of claim 1, further comprising an output device configured to display the icon-based healthcare information provided by the patient care logic.

6. The icon-based healthcare patient care system of claim 5, where the output device is at least one of a computer screen, a display of a personal digital assistant and an image projector.

7. The icon-based healthcare patient care system of claim 1, further comprising a discharge data store that archives icon-based healthcare patient information.

8. A personal digital assistant comprising the icon-based healthcare patient care system of claim 1.

9. A method for managing patient healthcare information, comprising:

displaying icons associated with a particular healthcare category;

receiving selection information associated with a particular icon; and

, storing information associated with the particular icon for an identified patient.

10. The method of claim 9, further comprising receiving patient identification information.

11. The method of claim 10, where receiving patient identification information is based on biometric information associated with the patient.

12. The method of claim 9, where the particular healthcare category is related to physical therapy.

13. The method of claim 9, where the particular healthcare category is related to nursing.

14. The method of claim 9, where the particular healthcare category is related to occupational therapy.

15. The method of claim 9, where the particular healthcare category is related to nurse'"'"'s aide.

16. The method of claim 9, where the particular healthcare category is related to medical information.

17. The method of claim 9 being implemented by processor executable instructions provided by a machine-readable medium.

18. A method for managing patient healthcare information, comprising:

displaying a unit box and icons associated with a category;

receiving selection information associated with one or more selected icon;

displaying the selected icons in the unit box; and

,

storing information associated with the unit box for an identified patient.

19. The method of claim 18, further comprising:

displaying a goal unit box and goal icons;

receiving selection information associated with one or more selected goal icons;

displaying the selected goal icons in the goal unit box; and

,

storing information associated with the goal unit box for the identified patient.

20. The method of claim 18, further comprising:

displaying a plan of care unit box and plan of care icons;

receiving selection information associated with one or more selected plan of care icons;

displaying the selected plan of care icons in the plan of care unit box; and

,

storing information associated with the plan of care unit box for the identified patient.

21. The method of claim 18 further comprising receiving patient identification information.

22. A method for managing patient healthcare information, comprising:

retrieving icon-based patient healthcare information for an activity within a category;

displaying the icon-based patient healthcare information;

displaying icon-based patient healthcare goal information;

determining whether the activity is to be discharged;

removing the activity from a patient care data store, if the activity is to be discharged; and

,

storing the activity in a discharge data store, if the activity is to be discharged.

23. The method of claim 22, where determining that the activity is to be discharged is based on selection of an icon associated with goal met, goal not met or maximum potential met.

24. The method of claim 22, further comprising:

determining whether a clone visit has been requested;

if a cloned visit has been requested;

copying icon-based patient healthcare information for the activity;

displaying the icon-based patient healthcare information for the activity;

receiving icon-based patient healthcare information for the activity for a current visit;

displaying the icon-based patient healthcare information for the activity for the current visit; and

,

storing the icon-based patient healthcare information for the activity for the current visit.

25. The method of claim 22, where the icon-based patient healthcare information retrieved and displayed includes current and historical icon-based healthcare information.

26. The method of claim 25, further comprising receiving text-based information via a graphical representation of a computer keyboard.
