Abstract

A method of presenting program content to a user moving in a multiple zone home entertainment system using a wireless home entertainment hub comprises causing program content to be presented to a user using a first set of sink devices in a first zone, where each sink device of the first set of sink devices is registered with the wireless home entertainment hub. An indication that the user is in a second zone of the home entertainment system is received. The program content is caused to be presented to the user using a second set of sink devices in the second zone, where each sink device of the second set of sink devices is registered with the wireless home entertainment hub.

Claims

1. A method of using devices in a home entertainment system including a wireless home entertainment hub for processing VoIP data, the method comprising:

(a) receiving an indication of incoming VoIP data corresponding to one or more entities at the wireless home entertainment hub;

(b) alerting a user of the incoming VoIP data;

(c) receiving an instruction from the user to process the incoming VoIP data from at last one of the one or more entities;

(d) presenting voice data from the VoIP data from at least one of the entities using one or more sink devices registered with the wireless home entertainment hub; and

(e) receiving user voice data using a microphone associated with the home entertainment system.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the VoIP data includes at least one of voice data and video data.

3. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

(f) presenting video data from the VoIP data from the at least one entity on a display device registered with the wireless home entertainment hub; and

(g) receiving user video data using a video capture device associated with the home entertainment system.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein the presentation of video program content being presented to the user on the display device is suspended during the processing of the VoIP data from the at least one entity.

5. The method of claim 3, wherein the VoIP video data from the at least one entity is displayed on a section of display device superimposed on video program content being presented on the display device to the user.

6. The method of claim 3, wherein the video capture device is a web camera associated with a PC registered with the wireless home entertainment hub.

7. The method of claim 3, wherein the VoIP data from the at least one entity is used to establish a conference call between the user and two or more of the entities.

8. The method of claim 1, where in the indication of the incoming VoIP data is received from a PC connected to the Internet and registered with the wireless home entertainment hub.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein the alerting in step (b) includes presenting an audible tone using one or more speakers registered with the wireless home entertainment hub.

10. The method of claim 1, wherein the alerting in step (b) includes presenting a visual alert on a display device registered with the wireless home entertainment hub.

11. The method of claim 1, wherein the microphone is included in a device registered with the wireless home entertainment hub.

12. The method of claim 1, wherein the presentation of audio program content being presented to the user is suspended during the processing of the VoIP data from the at least one entity.

13. The method of claim 1, wherein the user voice data receiving in step (e) is transmitted to the at least one entity using a source device registered with the wireless home entertainment hub.

14. A method of using devices in a home entertainment system including a wireless home entertainment hub for processing voice over IP data, the method comprising:

(a) receiving an instruction from the user to initiate processing of VoIP data to one or more entities;

(b) initiating the transmission of VoIP data to the entities;

(c) receiving an indication that the VoIP data is accepted by at least one of the entities;

(d) presenting voice data from the VoIP data corresponding to the at least one entity using sink devices registered with the wireless home entertainment hub; and

(e) receiving user voice data using a microphone associated with the home entertainment system.

15. The method of claim 14, further comprising:

(f) presenting video data from the VoIP data corresponding to the at least one entity on a display device registered with the wireless home entertainment hub.

16. The method of claim 14, further comprising:

(f) receiving user video data using video capture device associated with the home entertainment system

17. The method of claim 14, wherein the initiation of processing of the VoIP data is performed by a PC connected to the Internet and registered with the wireless home entertainment hub.

18. A method of using devices in a home entertainment system including a wireless home entertainment hub for processing voice over IP data, the method comprising:

(a) enabling by a user in a first zone a VoIP call session;

(b) transmitting entity voice data from the VoIP data using sink devices in the first zone registered with the wireless home entertainment hub;

(c) receiving user voice data using a microphone associated with the first zone of the home entertainment system; and

(d) transferring the VoIP data to devices in a second zone of the home entertainment system in response to a movement of the user from the first zone into the second zone.

19. The method of claim 18, further comprising:

(e) presenting entity video data from the VoIP data on a display device in the first zone, wherein the display device is registered with the wireless home entertainment hub; and

(f) transferring the entity video data from the VoIP data to a display device in a second zone of the home entertainment system in response to the movement of the user from the first zone into the second zone.

20. The method of claim 18, wherein the enabling in step (a) includes receiving an instruction at the wireless home entertainment hub from the user to process the incoming VoIP data after an alert to the user of the incoming VoIP data.

21. The method of claim 18, wherein the enabling in step (a) includes initiation of a transmission of VoIP data by the user to an entity.

22. The method of claim 18, wherein the entity voice data is automatically transferred to the second zone by the wireless home entertainment hub in response to the movement of the user from the first zone into the second zone.

23. The method of claim 22, wherein the detection of the movement of the user is based on a comparison of the intensities of the signal corresponding to the voice of the user at a plurality of microphones in the home entertainment system.

24. The method of claim 23, wherein each zone in the home entertainment system includes at least one microphone used to receive voice data for processing IP data.

25. The method of claim 18, wherein the user initiates the transfer of the VoIP data from the first zone to a different zone in the home entertainment system.
