Abstract

A packaging system (20), has a container (22) which delimits a container volume which can hold at least one unit-measure or unit-quantity of a selected commodity or article (24). The container includes at least one access portion (26) that can provide a selective closed arrangement and a selective open arrangement. An electronic data mechanism (28) can be operatively connected to the container (22), and can be operatively configured to electronically transpond or otherwise transmit data to a reader mechanism (30). A deactivation mechanism (32) can be operatively connected to the container (22) and to the electronic data mechanism (28), and can be operatively configured to selectively disable the electronic data mechanism.

Claims

1. A packaging system, comprising:

a container which delimits a container volume for holding at least one unit-measure of a selected commodity, and includes at least one access portion that can provide a selective closed arrangement and a selective open arrangement;

an electronic data mechanism, which is operatively connected to the container, and configured to electronically transpond data to a reader mechanism;

a deactivation mechanism, which is operatively connected to the container and electronic data mechanism, and is operatively configured to selectively disable the electronic data mechanism.

2. A packaging system as recited in claim 1, wherein the deactivation mechanism is configured to manually disable the electronic data mechanism.

3. A packaging system as recited in claim 1, wherein the electronic data mechanism is a RFID tag.

4. A packaging system as recited in claim 1, wherein the at least one access portion includes an access flap.

5. A packaging system as recited in claim 1, wherein the at least one access portion includes an access lid.

6. A packaging system as recited in claim 1, wherein the at least one access portion includes a screw-on, access lid.

7. A packaging system as recited in claim 1, wherein the electronic data mechanism is a RFID tag which includes a data memory portion and an antenna portion.

8. A packaging system as recited in claim 1, wherein

the electronic data mechanism is a RFID tag, which includes a data memory portion operatively connected to an antenna portion;

the deactivation mechanism is configured to selectively disconnect the data memory portion from the antenna portion.

9. A packaging system as recited in claim 1, further including a reactivation mechanism which is configured to selectively re-enable the electronic data mechanism.

10. A packaging system as recited in claim 1, further including a reactivation mechanism which is configured to selectively re-enable the electronic data mechanism;

wherein

the electronic data mechanism includes a data memory portion operatively connected to an antenna portion;

the deactivation mechanism is configured to selectively disconnect the data memory portion from the antenna portion;

the reactivation mechanism is configured to selectively reconnect the data memory portion to the antenna portion in an operative configuration.

11. A packaging system as recited in claim 1, further including a reactivation mechanism which is configured to selectively re-enable the electronic data mechanism;

wherein

the electronic data mechanism is a RFID tag, which includes a data memory portion operatively connected to an antenna portion;

the deactivation mechanism is configured to selectively disconnect the data memory portion from the antenna portion;

the reactivation mechanism is configured to selectively reconnect the data memory portion to the antenna portion with an operative mechanical connection.

12. A packaging system as recited in claim 10, wherein the reader mechanism is operatively connected to a first counter which records a number of times that the deactivation mechanism is operated.

13. A packaging system as recited in claim 11, wherein reader mechanism is further, operatively connected to a timer which provides for a determination of a number of times that the deactivation mechanism is operated during a predetermined time period.

14. A packaging system as recited in claim 12, wherein the first counter is an electronic counter, and the timer is an electronic timer.

15. A packaging system as recited in claim 10, wherein the reader mechanism is operatively connected to a second counter which records a number of times that the reactivation mechanism is operated.

16. A packaging system as recited in claim 10, wherein the reader mechanism is operatively connected to a first counter which records a number of times that the deactivation mechanism is operated, and a second counter which records a number of times that the reactivation mechanism is operated.

A packaging system as recited in claim 10, wherein the data memory portion of the electronic data mechanism is operatively connected to the access portion of the container, and the antenna portion of the electronic data mechanism is operatively connected to a section of the container that is spaced from the access portion.

A packaging system as recited in claim 1, wherein the antenna portion of the electronic data mechanism is operatively connected to the access portion of the container, and the data memory portion of the electronic data mechanism is operatively connected to a section of the container that is spaced from the access portion.

19. A packaging system as recited in claim 1, further including a reactivation mechanism which is configured to selectively re-enable the electronic data mechanism;

wherein

the electronic data mechanism includes a data memory portion operatively connected to an antenna portion;

the deactivation mechanism is configured to manually disconnect the data memory portion from the antenna portion;

the reactivation mechanism is configured to manually reconnect the data memory portion to the antenna portion.

20. A packaging system as recited in claim 19, wherein

the reader mechanism is operatively connected to a first electronic counter which records a number of times that the deactivation mechanism is operated;

and a second electronic timer which provides for a determination of a number of times that the reactivation mechanism is operated during a predetermined time period.
