1. A lighting system, comprising:
- a first switching unit having at least one user input device for receiving user inputs for controlling a remote light source, the first switching unit further configured to transmit a first input message in response to a user input received via the at least one user input device;
a second switching unit coupled to the light source; and
a base unit configured to receive the first input message and to correlate the first input message with the second switching unit based on data stored in the base unit, the base unit further configured to transmit a first command to the second switching unit based on the first input message, wherein the second switching unit is configured to change an operational state of the light source in response to the first command.

Abstract
A lighting system in accordance with one embodiment of the present disclosure includes a first switching unit, a second switching unit and a base unit. The first switching unit has at least one user input device for receiving user inputs for controlling a remote light source. The first switching unit is configured to transmit a first input message in response to a user input received via the at least one user input device, and the second switching unit is coupled to the light source. The base unit is configured to receive the first input message and to correlate the first input message with the second switching unit based on data stored in the base unit, and the base unit is further configured to transmit a first command to the second switching unit based on the first input message. The second switching unit is configured to change an operational state of the light source in response to the first command.

12. A method for use in a lighting system, comprising the steps of:

receiving a user input at a user input device that is remotely located from a base unit; transmitting a first input message indicative of the user input to the base unit; identifying, based on data stored by the base unit, a light source to be adjusted in response to the first input message, the light source remotely located from the base unit; transmitting, based on the identifying step, a first command from the base unit to a switching unit that is coupled to the light source; and changing an operational state of the light source in response to the first command. - View Dependent Claims (13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22)
