Abstract

A privacy enhancement device for electronic device such as a cellular telephone. The privacy enhancement device may include a jammer which may produces false information, e.g. false information indicative of pseudo ranges. In addition, the navigation information used on the position detecting device may be locally stored versions of dynamically changing information. The navigation operation may be carried out using a Web service.

Claims

1. An apparatus, comprising:

a portable device, having a position sensing part therein, which is actuated to determine a current position of the device;

a user interface, storing a current position of the device as a stored location responsive to a user control that indicates that the current position should be stored, and providing navigation information from at least a plurality of other locations to said stored location, where said navigation includes directions to said stored location from the other location.

2. A device as in claim 1, wherein said current position is stored as a bookmark, and said user interface allows selecting said bookmark at a time after said storing, and providing said navigation information responsive to said selecting.

3. A device as in claim 2, wherein the system enables storing multiple bookmarks, selecting any of said multiple bookmarks, and providing navigation information to a selected bookmark.

4. A system as in claim 1, wherein said position sensing part includes a global positioning satellite system.

5. A system as in claim 1, wherein said portable device is a cellular phone.

6. A device as in claim 1, wherein the portable device sends information indicative of said current position of the device to a server and sends said stored location to said server, and receives server navigation information from said server, which server navigation information is used to provide said navigation information.

7. A method, comprising:

in a portable device, using a position sensing part for detecting a current position of the portable device;

storing information indicative of the current position as a stored location; and

.

in said portable device, providing navigation information from other locations to said stored location.

8. A method as in claim 7, further comprising enabling storing multiple locations as multiple stored locations, and enabling selection of any of said stored locations and providing navigation information to a selected stored location.

9. A method as in claim 7, wherein said determining the current position comprises using a global positioning satellite to determine the current position.

10. A method as in claim 7, wherein said portable device is a cellular phone, and further comprising allowing the cellular phone to make cellular telephone calls at another time.

11. A method as in claim 7, wherein said position sensing part is responsive to at least one non-GPS item of information to determine its position.

12. A method as in claim 7, wherein said providing navigation information comprises sending information indicative of the current position and the stored location to a remote server, receiving navigation information from the remote server responsive to said sending, and using said navigation information to provide information indicative of navigation to said stored location.

13. A method as in claim 7, further comprising storing descriptive information indicative of the current location, in the memory associated with the current location.

14. A navigating system comprising:

a position determining system that determines a current position

a display part, that displays information indicative of said current position;

a selection part, that allows entry of information indicative of a desired location

a navigation part that provides navigation information using at least said display part to display said navigation information, said navigation information guiding from said current position said desired location; and

enabling storing information indicative of said current position determined by said position determining device, and subsequent retrieval of the stored position to allow navigating to the stored position.

15. A system as in claim 14, wherein said navigation part enables storing multiple stored locations.

16. A system as in claim 15, wherein said navigation part enables storing descriptive information associated with each of the multiple stored locations.

17. A system as in claim 14, wherein said position determining system is wherein is responsive to at least one non-GPS item of information to determine its position.

18. A system as in claim 14, wherein said navigation part operates to send information indicative of the current position and the stored location to a remote server, receiving navigation information from the remote server responsive to said sending, and using said navigation information to provide information indicative of navigation to said stored location.

19. A system as in claim 14, wherein said position determining system is within a cellular telephone.
