Abstract

A remote health monitoring system, comprising a device suitable for transmitting and receiving data configured for determining a geographic location of the device, a communication network, and a server. The device is suitable for communicating with the server via the communication network and is suitable for tracking patient compliance with a healthcare program, determining a location of a healthcare facility, and verifying availability of healthcare at the healthcare facility.

Claims

1. A remote health monitoring system, comprising:

a device suitable for transmitting and receiving data, said device being configured for determining a geographic location of said device;

a communication network; and

a server,

wherein said device is suitable for communicating with said server via said communication network and is suitable for tracking patient compliance with a healthcare program, determining a location of a healthcare facility, and verifying availability of healthcare at said healthcare facility.

2. The remote health monitoring system claimed in claim 1, further comprising a workstation, wherein said workstation communicates with said server.

3. The remote health monitoring system claimed in claim 2, wherein said workstation comprises at least of one of a personal computer, a handheld computer or a remote terminal.

4. The remote health monitoring system claimed in claim 1, wherein said healthcare facility comprises at least one of a pharmacy, a diagnostic center, a home healthcare supply outlet, a physician office, or an insurance and governmental assistance location.

5. The remote health monitoring system claimed in claim 1, wherein said healthcare is a medical supply, diagnostic test or medical treatment.

6. The remote health monitoring system claimed in claim 1, further comprising a measuring apparatus suitable for measuring health related data and transmitting said health related data to said server via said communication network.

7. The remote health monitoring system claimed in claim 6, wherein said measuring apparatus measures at least one of a blood glucose level, a pulse, a weight, a blood pressure, or a peak flow.

8. The remote health monitoring system claimed in claim 6, wherein said device is configured for tracking patient compliance with a healthcare management program via data received from said measuring apparatus.

9. The remote health monitoring system claimed in claim 1, wherein said device is configured for receiving a query from said server, displaying said query on an interactive display of said device, accepting a patient query response, and transmitting said patient query response to said server.

10. The remote health monitoring system claimed in claim 1, wherein said device is configured receive input patient availability data and transmit said patient availability data to said server.

11. The remote health monitoring system claimed in claim 1, wherein said device further comprises a location determination assembly comprising at least one of a global positioning system, a wireless location area network, a wireless personal area network, or a radio frequency identification system.

12. A device comprising:

a housing;

a processor disposed within said housing suitable for processing health related information;

a communication assembly disposed within said housing suitable for communicating said health related information to a server and receiving said health related information from said server; and

a location determination assembly disposed within said housing suitable for determining a geographic location of said device,

wherein at least one of said server or said processor is suitable for tracking patient compliance with a healthcare program, determining a location of a healthcare facility, and verifying availability of healthcare at said healthcare facility.

The device claimed in claim 12, wherein said health related information comprises least one of patient availability, a patient response to a query, a measured health parameter, severity of patient condition, patient geographic location, a web based traffic report, a web based weather report, or educational planning.

14. The device claimed in claim 12, wherein said healthcare facility comprises at least one of a pharmacy, a diagnostic center, a home healthcare supply outlet, a physician office, or an insurance and governmental assistance location.

15. The device claimed in claim 12, further comprising a measuring apparatus suitable for measuring at least one of a blood glucose level, a pulse, a weight, a blood pressure, or a peak flow.

16. The device claimed in claim 12, wherein said processor is suitable for executing a query and displaying said query on an interactive display of said device.

17. The device claimed in claim 16, wherein said housing further comprises at least one actuator for inputting a response to said query.

18. The device claimed in claim 16, wherein said interactive display is suitable for displaying said location of said healthcare facility.

19. The device claimed in claim 12, wherein said location determination assembly comprises at least one of a global positioning system, a wireless location area network, a wireless personal area network, or a radio frequency identification system.

20. The device claimed in claim 12, wherein said healthcare is a medical supply, diagnostic test or medical treatment.

21. A method for remote health monitoring comprising:

determining a geographic location of a device;

communicating health related information of a patient from said device to a server;

determining patient compliance with a healthcare program;

determining a healthcare facility location; and

verifying availability of healthcare at said healthcare facility location.

22. The remote health monitoring system claimed in claim 21, further comprising displaying said healthcare facility location on said device.

23. The remote health monitoring system claimed in claim 21, wherein said healthcare facility comprises at least one of a pharmacy, a diagnostic center, a home healthcare supply outlet, a physician office, or an insurance and governmental assistance location.

24. The remote health monitoring system claimed in claim 21, further comprising measuring health related data.

26. The remote health monitoring system claimed in claim 21, further comprising determining patient availability for a visit from a healthcare provider.

27. The remote health monitoring system claimed in claim 21, wherein said healthcare is a medical supply, diagnostic test or medical treatment.

28. The remote health monitoring system claimed in claim 21, wherein said determining a geographic location for said device is accomplished via at least one of a global positioning system, a wireless location area network, a wireless personal area network, or a radio frequency identification system.

25. The remote health monitoring system claimed in claim [0036], wherein said health related data is at least one of a blood glucose level, a pulse, a weight, a blood pressure, or a peak flow.
