Abstract

An information processing apparatus carrying out hardware diagnosis processing by means of initializing processing of each part of hardware when power supply in the apparatus is started, has a power-off initializing processing part carrying out the hardware diagnosis processing when the power supply in the apparatus is cut off; and a power-off timing control part controlling timing of cutting off the power supply in the apparatus in such a manner that the power supply in the apparatus is carried out after the hardware diagnosis processing and trouble reporting processing carried out by said power-off initializing processing part are finished.

Claims

1. An information processing apparatus carrying out hardware diagnosis processing in initializing processing when power supply in the apparatus is started, comprising:

a power-off initializing processing part carrying out the hardware diagnosis processing when the power supply in the apparatus is cut off; and

a power-off timing control part controlling timing of cutting off of the power supply in the information processing apparatus in such a manner that cutting off of the power supply in the information processing apparatus is carried out after the hardware diagnosis processing and trouble reporting processing carried out by said power-off initializing processing part are finished.

2. The information processing apparatus as claimed in claim 1, wherein:

said power-off initializing processing part carries out the hardware diagnosis processing in parallel to processing of cutting off power supply in an input/output part of the information processing apparatus.

3. The information processing apparatus as claimed in claim 1, wherein:

said power-off initializing processing part determines whether or not the hardware diagnosis processing, carried out when the power supply in the information processing apparatus has been started, has been properly finished, and, carries out the hardware diagnosis processing when the power supply in the information processing apparatus is cut off only when, as a result of the determination, it is determined that the hardware diagnosis processing, carried out when the power supply in the apparatus has been started, has been properly finished.

4. The information processing apparatus as claimed in claim 1, further comprising:

a reporting part reporting to a predetermined remote monitoring center when a trouble is found out as a result of the hardware diagnosis processing carried out when the power supply in the apparatus is cut off by said power-off initializing processing part, wherein;

said power-off timing control part delays the timing of cutting off of the power supply in the information processing apparatus for such a time during which the reporting processing can be completed, when said reporting part carries out the reporting.

5. The information processing apparatus as claimed in claim 1, further comprising:

a setting operation part making it possible to omit execution of the hardware diagnosis processing carried out when the power supply in the apparatus is cut off by said power-off initializing processing part, as a result of an operator making predetermined operation.

6. The information processing apparatus as claimed in claim 1, wherein:

said power-off initializing processing part is provided by a second control part, which is provided separately from a first control part provided for carrying out a basic function of the information processing apparatus, said second control part being provided for monitoring states and operation of the information processing apparatus.

7. The information processing apparatus as claimed in claim 1, wherein:

a communication processing time for trouble reporting is provided for when a trouble is detected in the hardware diagnosis processing, and said power-off timing control part cuts off the power supply in the apparatus after elapse of the communication processing time.

8. The information processing apparatus as claimed in claim 1, further comprising:

a part configured to omit the hardware diagnosis processing otherwise carried out when the power supply in the apparatus is cut off.

9. A control apparatus for controlling to monitor states and operation of an information processing apparatus, comprising:

a power-start initializing processing part carrying out hardware diagnosis processing in initializing processing when power supply in the apparatus is started;

a power-off initializing processing part carrying out the hardware diagnosis processing when the power supply in the apparatus is cut off; and

a power-off timing control part controlling timing of cutting off of the power supply in the information processing apparatus in such a manner that cutting off of the power supply in the information processing apparatus is carried out after the hardware diagnosis processing and trouble reporting processing carried out by said power-off initializing processing part are finished.

10. The control apparatus as claimed in claim 9, wherein:

said power-off initializing processing part carries out the hardware diagnosis processing in parallel to processing of cutting off of power supply in an input/output part of the information processing apparatus.

11. The control apparatus as claimed in claim 9, wherein:

said power-off initializing processing part determines whether or not the hardware diagnosis processing, carried out when the power supply in the apparatus has been started, has been properly finished, and, carries out the hardware diagnosis processing when the power supply in the apparatus is cut off only when, as a result of the determination, it is determined that the hardware diagnosis processing, carried out when the power supply in the apparatus has been started, has been properly finished.

12. The control apparatus as claimed in claim 9, further comprising:

a reporting part reporting to a predetermined remote monitoring center when a trouble is found out as a result of the hardware diagnosis processing carried out when the power supply in the information processing apparatus is cut off by said power-off initializing processing part, wherein;

said power-off timing control part delays the timing of cutting off of the power supply in the information processing apparatus for such a time during which the reporting processing can be completed, when said reporting part carries out the reporting.

13. The control apparatus as claimed in claim 9, further comprising:

a setting operation part making it possible to omit execution of the hardware diagnosis processing carried out when the power supply in the apparatus is cut off by said power-off initializing processing part, as a result of an operator making predetermined operation.

14. The control apparatus as claimed in claim 9, wherein:

a communication processing time for trouble reporting is provided for when a trouble is detected in the hardware diagnosis processing, and said power-off timing control part cuts off the power supply in the information processing apparatus after elapse of the communication processing time.

15. The control apparatus as claimed in claim 9, further comprising:

a part configured to omit the hardware diagnosis processing otherwise carried out when the power supply in the information processing apparatus is cut off

16. A control method for controlling to monitor states and operation of an information processing apparatus, comprising:

a power-start initializing processing step of carrying out hardware diagnosis processing in initializing processing when power supply in the information processing apparatus is started;

a power-off initializing processing step of carrying out the hardware diagnosis processing when the power supply in the apparatus is cut off; and

a power-off timing control step of controlling timing of cutting off of the power supply in the apparatus in such a manner that cutting off of the power supply in the information processing apparatus is carried out after the hardware diagnosis processing and trouble reporting processing carried out by said power-off initializing processing step are finished.

17. The control method as claimed in claim 16, wherein:

said power-off initializing processing step carries out the hardware diagnosis processing in parallel to processing of cutting off power supply in an input/output part of the information processing apparatus.

18. The control method as claimed in claim 16, wherein:

said power-off initializing processing step determines whether or not the hardware diagnosis processing, carried out when the power supply in the apparatus has been started, has been properly finished, and, carries out the hardware diagnosis processing when the power supply in the apparatus is cut off only when, as a result of the determination, it is determined that the hardware diagnosis processing, carried out when the power supply in the apparatus has been started, has been properly finished.

19. The control method as claimed in claim 16, further comprising:

a reporting step of reporting to a predetermined remote monitoring center when a trouble is found out as a result of the hardware diagnosis processing carried out when the power supply in the apparatus is cut off in said power-off initializing processing step, wherein;

said power-off timing control step delays cutting off of the power supply in the information processing apparatus in such a manner that the reporting processing can be completed, when said reporting step carries out the reporting.

20. The control method as claimed in claim 16, further comprising:

a setting operation step of making it possible to omit execution of the hardware diagnosis processing carried out otherwise carried out when the power supply in the apparatus is cut off in said power-off initializing processing step, as a result of an operator making predetermined operation.

21. The control method as claimed in claim 16, wherein:

said power-off initializing processing step is executed by a second control part, which is provided separately from a first control part provided for carrying out a basic function of the information processing apparatus, said second control part being provided for monitoring states and operation of the information processing apparatus.

22. The control method as claimed in claim 16, wherein:

a communication processing time for trouble reporting is provided for when a trouble is detected in the hardware diagnosis processing, and said power-off timing control step cuts off the power supply in the information processing apparatus after elapse of the communication processing time.

23. The control method as claimed in claim 16, further comprising:

a step of omitting the hardware diagnosis processing otherwise carried out when the power supply in the information processing apparatus is cut off

24. A control program comprising instructions for causing a computer, which is provided for controlling operation of an information processing apparatus, to execute:

a power-start initializing processing step of carrying out hardware diagnosis processing in initializing processing when power supply in the information processing apparatus is started;

a power-off initializing processing step of carrying out the hardware diagnosis processing when the power supply in the information processing apparatus is cut off; and

a power-off timing control step of controlling timing of cutting off the power supply in the information processing apparatus in such a manner that cutting off of the power supply in the information processing apparatus is carried out after the hardware diagnosis processing and trouble reporting processing carried out in said power-off initializing processing step are finished

25. An information processing apparatus provided with a plurality of components, comprising:

an initializing part carrying out initializing processing of said information processing apparatus, when power supply in the information processing apparatus is cut off; and

a determining part determining, in the initializing processing, whether or not a trouble has occurred in any one of the plurality of components.

26. The information processing apparatus as claimed in claim 25, further comprising:

a reporting part reporting that the trouble has occurred, when said determining part determines that the trouble has occurred in any one of the plurality of components.

27. The information processing apparatus as claimed in claim 25, further comprising:

a power supply control part cutting off the power supply in said information processing apparatus after completion of the initializing processing, and, deferring cutting off of the power supply in said information processing apparatus, when said reporting part carries out reporting, until the reporting is completed.

28. The information processing apparatus as claimed in claim 25, wherein:

said initializing part carries out the initializing processing of said information processing apparatus when power supply in the apparatus is started, while, when it is determined that there has occurred a trouble in the components in the power supply starting operation, said initializing part does not carry out the initializing operation when the power supply in the information processing apparatus is cut off.

29. A control method for an information processing apparatus provided with a plurality of components, comprising:

an initializing step of carrying out initializing processing of said information processing apparatus, when power supply in the information processing apparatus is cut off; and

a determining step of determining, in the initializing processing, whether or not a trouble has occurred in any one of the plurality of components.

30. The control method for the information processing apparatus as claimed in claim 29, further comprising:

a reporting step of reporting that the trouble has occurred, when said determining step determines that the trouble has occurred in any one of the plurality of components.

31. The control method for the information processing apparatus as claimed in claim 29, further comprising:

a power supply control step of cutting off of the power supply in said information processing apparatus after completion of the initializing processing, and, deferring cutting off of the power supply in the information processing apparatus, when said reporting step carries out reporting, until the reporting is completed.

32. The control method for the information processing apparatus as claimed in claim 29, wherein:

said initializing step carries out the initializing processing of the information processing apparatus when power supply in the information processing apparatus is started, while, when it is determined that there has occurred a trouble in the components in the power supply starting operation, said initializing step does not carry out the initializing operation when the power supply in the information processing apparatus is cut off.

33. A program comprising instructions for causing a computer, provided for controlling operation of an information processing apparatus provided with a plurality of components, to execute:

an initializing step of carrying out initializing processing of said information processing apparatus, when power supply in the information processing apparatus is cut off; and

a determining step of determining, in the initializing processing, whether or not a trouble has occurred in any one of the plurality of components.
