Abstract

An apparatus and associated method is provided for facilitating policy decision in a communication system, wherein the apparatus receiving a message, the message comprising a first destination device identification of a first destination device, determining a second destination device identification of a second destination device by accessing a location information of a wireless terminal, and replacing the first destination device identification with second destination device identification.

Claims

1. A method of facilitating policy decision in a communication system, the method comprising:

receiving a message, at a current device, wherein the message comprising a transmitting device identification of a transmitting device and a destination device identification of a destination device;

replacing, the transmitting identification with a current device identification of the current device; and

transmitting the message to the destination device, wherein the destination device configured to make policy decisions.

2. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein receiving the message at current device, comprises of receiving the message at a proxy server, wherein the proxy server configured is to receive a MAP signaling.

3. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein receiving the message comprises of receiving the message from an access node, wherein the access node comprising a PEP.

4. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein transmitting the message to the destination device comprises of transmitting the message to a PDP.

5. The method as claimed in claim 2, wherein receiving the message comprises of receiving an authentication token, a message authentication code and a classifier.

6. The method as claimed in 1, wherein transmitting the message comprises of transmitting a keep alive message for performing a liveness check.

7. A method of facilitating policy decision in a communication system, the method comprising:

receiving a message, at a current device, the message comprising a first destination device identification of a first destination device;

determining a second destination device identification of a second destination device by accessing a location information of a wireless terminal; and

replacing the first destination device identification with second destination device identification.

8. The method as claimed in claim 7, wherein receiving the message at current device comprises of receiving the message at a proxy server.

9. The method as claimed in claim 7, wherein determining the second destination device identification comprises determining a PEP identification of a PEP that is servicing the wireless terminal.

10. The method as claimed in claim 7, wherein receiving a message comprises of receiving an indication that a liveness check failed.

11. The method as claimed in claim 10, further comprising transmitting a reset message to all PEP in connection with a PDP if determined that liveness check failed.

12. An apparatus for facilitating policy decision in a communication system, the apparatus comprising:

means for receiving a message, at a current device, wherein the message comprising a transmitting device identification of a transmitting device and a destination device identification of a destination device;

means for replacing, the transmitting identification with a current device identification of the current device; and

means for transmitting the message to the destination device, wherein the destination device configured to make policy decisions.

13. The apparatus as claimed in claim 12, wherein the means for receiving the message at current device, comprises of means for receiving the message at a proxy server, wherein the proxy server is configured to receive a MAP signaling.

14. The apparatus as claimed in claim 12, wherein the means for receiving the message comprises of means for receiving the message from an access node, wherein the access node comprising a PEP.

15. The apparatus as claimed in claim 12, wherein means for transmitting the message to the destination device comprises of means for transmitting the message to a PDP.

16. The apparatus as claimed in claim 13, wherein means for receiving the message comprises of means for receiving an authentication token, a message authentication code and a classifier.

24. The apparatus as claimed in claim 12, wherein the message is received from an access node comprising a PEP.

25. The apparatus as claimed in claim 12, wherein the message is transmitted to a PDP.

26. The apparatus as claimed in claim 13, wherein the message comprises an authentication token, a message authentication code and a classifier.

17. The apparatus as claimed in 12, wherein means for transmitting the message comprises of transmitting a keep alive message for performing a liveness check.

18. An apparatus for facilitating policy decision in a communication system, the apparatus comprising:

means for receiving a message, at a current device, the message comprising a first destination device identification of a first destination device;

means for determining a second destination device identification of a second destination device by accessing a location information of a wireless terminal; and

means for replacing the first destination device identification with second destination device identification.

19. The apparatus as claimed in claim 18, wherein means for receiving the message at current device comprises of means for receiving the message at a proxy server.

20. The apparatus as claimed in claim 18, wherein means for determining the second destination device identification comprises means for determining a PEP identification of a PEP that is servicing the wireless terminal.

21. The apparatus as claimed in claim 18, wherein means for receiving a message comprises of means for receiving an indication that a liveness check failed.

22. The apparatus as claimed in claim 21, further comprising means for transmitting a reset message to all PEP in connection with a PDP if determined that liveness check failed.

28. The apparatus as claimed in claim 18, wherein the processor is configured to determine a PEP identification of a PEP that is servicing the wireless terminal by accessing an external database.

29. The apparatus as claimed in claim 21, processor further configured to transmit a reset message to all PEP in connection with a PDP if determined that liveness check failed.

23. An proxy server for facilitating policy decision in a communication system, the apparatus comprising:

a memory for storing one or more identification information, wherein the memory comprises a current device identification; and

a processor, the processor coupled to the memory and configured to receive a message, wherein the message comprising a transmitting device identification of a transmitting device and a destination device identification of a destination device;

the processor further configured to replace the transmitting identification with a current device identification; and

configured to transmit the message to the destination device.

27. A proxy server for facilitating policy decision in a communication system, the apparatus comprising:

a memory for storing one or more identification information; and

a processor, the processor coupled to the memory and configured to receive a message, the message comprising a first destination device identification of a first destination device;

configured to determine a second destination device identification of a second destination device by accessing a location information of a wireless terminal; and

configured to replace the first destination device identification with second destination device identification.
