Abstract

A method and apparatus for delivering IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) services is disclosed. An apparatus that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a system having an aggregator element that aggregates a number of IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) services, and a presentation element that presents a web page with the aggregated IMS services. Additional embodiments are disclosed.

Claims

1. A system, comprising:

an aggregator element that aggregates a plurality of IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) services; and

a presentation element that presents a web page with the aggregated IMS services.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein the IMS services comprise at least one among a plurality of data services.

3. The system of claim 2, wherein the data services comprise at least one among a Voice over IP (VoIP) service, a video communications service, a gaming service, a music service, a video entertainment service, a location-based service, a news service, a weather service, a sports service, a education service, and an address book service.

4. The system of claim 1, wherein the presentation element detects a terminal device, presents to the terminal device the web page with the aggregated IMS services, receives a selection from the terminal device for one or more of the aggregated IMS services, and temporarily enables the one or more IMS services selected.

5. The system of claim 4, wherein the processing element transmits to the terminal device one or more IMS clients corresponding to the IMS services selected, and authorizes the temporary enablement of said services in response to a valid authentication of the terminal device.

6. The system of claim 5, wherein the processing element detects an expiration of the one or more IMS services selected, removes the one or more IMS clients transmitted to the terminal device, and submits a charge to an account associated with the terminal device according to the one or more IMS services selected.

7. The system of claim 6, wherein the processing element receives from the terminal device payment information for the one or more IMS services selected.

8. The system of claim 7, wherein the processing element submits a charge to a processing center according to the received payment information.

9. The system of claim 4, comprising a communications element for establishing communications with the terminal device by way of an access point, wherein the access point corresponds to one among a Wireless Fidelity (WiFi), a Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) access point, a Bluetooth access point, Ultra Wide Band (UWB) access point, and a cellular access point.

10. A terminal device, comprising a communications element for establishing communications with a system that conveys to the terminal device a web page comprising an aggregation of IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) services.

11. The terminal device of claim 10, comprising a presentation element that presents the web page with the aggregated IMS services.

12. The terminal device of claim 11, comprising a processing element that receives a selection of one or more of the aggregated IMS services, transmits said selection to the system, receives from the system one or more IMS clients tailored to the selection, and executes said one or more IMS clients for processing the selected one or more IMS services.

13. The terminal device of claim 12, wherein the processing element submits authentication information to the system to authorize enablement of the one or more IMS services selected.

14. The terminal device of claim 10, wherein the communications element establishes communications with the terminal device by at least one among a wireline and wireless access point.

15. The terminal device of claim 10, comprising a browser element for presenting the web page.

16. The terminal device of claim 12, wherein the processing element transmits to the system payment information for charging the one or more IMS services selected.

17. The terminal device of claim 16, wherein the payment information corresponds to a prepaid service.

18. An access point, comprising a communications element for establishing communications with a terminal device and for conveying to said terminal device a web page comprising an aggregation of IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) services supplied by a broker of IMS services.

19. The access point of claim 18, wherein the access point comprises one among a Wireless Fidelity (WiFi) access point, a Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) access point, a Bluetooth access point, Ultra Wide Band (UWB) access point, and a cellular base station, and wherein the access point comprises a controlling element that negotiates a Quality of Service (QoS) with a system of an IMS service provider supplying at least one among the aggregated IMS services.

20. A method, comprising an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) service provider sharing revenue with a broker that aggregates IMS services of one or more IMS service providers.

21. A method, comprising a broker aggregating IMS services of one or more IMS service providers for presentation to one or more terminal devices.
