1. A DFS messaging method for a DYSPAN system comprising:

  • performing an initial channel availability check;

    announcing a DFS decision based on RF sensing results from the initial channel availability check to customer devices in the system and to base stations in neighboring systems;

    hopping to a selected frequency if the DFS decision is effective and starting data transmissions; and

    simultaneously with the data transmissions, continually sensing selected frequencies.
