1. A method for use in an interactive system, comprising:
- providing a controller that includes a middle portion, a first handle portion on one side of the middle portion, and a second handle portion on an opposite side of the middle portion;
tracking three-dimensional motions of the controller as it is manipulated by a user who holds the controller by grasping the first handle portion with one hand and positioning the controller so that the middle portion and the second handle portion are extended away from the user; and
causing one or more images displayed on a display screen to be responsive to the tracked three-dimensional motions of the controller.

Three-dimensional motions of the controller are tracked as it is manipulated by a user who holds the controller by grasping the first handle portion with one hand and positioning the controller so that the middle portion and the second handle portion are extended away from the user.
