Abstract

A folding and reclining seat that can be folded against the back wall of the interior of an extended cab or super cab pick up vehicle is disclosed. The seat may be folded flush into the back wall thereby maximizing usable interior cargo space when not in use. The angle of the back seat can be adjusted by selective fore-and-aft movement of the seat cushion.

Claims

1. A stowable vehicle seat assembly for use in a vehicle cabin, the cabin having a front, a back, and a back wall, the seat assembly comprising:

a movable seat back assembly operatively associated with the back wall of the vehicle cabin; and

a seat cushion assembly operatively associated with said seat back assembly, said seat cushion assembly being reversibly movable from a forward position to a rearward position.

2. The stowable vehicle seat assembly of claim 1 wherein said seat back assembly is pivotably attached to the back wall of the vehicle cabin.

3. The stowable vehicle seat assembly of claim 2 wherein said seat back assembly includes a slide bar and a pivoting wall bracket attached to the back wall of the vehicle cabin, said slide bar and said pivoting wall bracket being operatively related.

4. The stowable vehicle seat assembly of claim 2 wherein said seat back assembly includes a link bar and a pivoting wall bracket attached to the back wall of the vehicle cabin, said link bar and said pivoting wall bracket being operatively related.

5. The stowable vehicle seat assembly of claim 1 wherein said seat cushion assembly comprises a seat cushion, an inner seat cushion frame, and a lower seat cushion frame, said inner seat cushion frame and said lower seat cushion frame being slidably connected.

6. The stowable vehicle seat assembly of claim 5 including a locking mechanism to lock said inner seat cushion frame to said lower seat cushion frame.

7. The stowable vehicle seat assembly of claim 5 including a pivot bracket mounted to the vehicle cabin, said lower seat cushion frame being pivotably connected to said pivot bracket.

8. The stowable vehicle seat assembly of claim 1 wherein said seat back assembly comprises a back cushion and a back cushion frame that is movably attached to the vehicle cabin back wall.

The stowable vehicle seat assembly of claim 1 wherein said seat cushion assembly comprises a seat cushion, an inner seat cushion frame, and a lower seat cushion frame and said seat back assembly comprises a back cushion and a back cushion frame, said inner seat cushion frame of said seat cushion assembly and said back cushion frame of said seat back assembly being operatively connected.

10. A stowable vehicle seat assembly for use in a vehicle cabin, the cabin having a front, a back, and a back wall, the seat assembly comprising:

a movable seat back assembly; and

a seat cushion assembly having an inner seat cushion frame and a lower seat cushion frame, said inner seat cushion frame and said lower seat cushion frame being operatively connected to allow for selective and reversible movement of said seat cushion assembly from a forward position to a rearward position.

11. The stowable vehicle seat assembly of claim 10 wherein said seat back assembly is pivotably attached to the back wall of the vehicle cabin.

12. The stowable vehicle seat assembly of claim 11 wherein said seat back assembly includes a slide bar and a pivoting wall bracket attached to the back wall of the vehicle cabin, said slide bar and said pivoting wall bracket being operatively related.

13. The stowable vehicle seat assembly of claim 11 wherein said seat back assembly includes a link bar and a pivoting wall bracket attached to the back wall of the vehicle cabin, said link bar and said pivoting wall bracket being operatively related.

14. The stowable vehicle seat assembly of claim 10 including a locking mechanism to lock said inner seat cushion frame to said lower seat cushion frame.

15. The stowable vehicle seat assembly of claim 14 including a pivot bracket mounted to the vehicle cabin, said lower seat cushion frame being pivotably connected to said pivot bracket.

16. The stowable vehicle seat assembly of claim 10 wherein said seat back assembly comprises a back cushion and a back cushion frame that is movably attached to the vehicle cabin back wall.

The stowable vehicle seat assembly of claim 10 wherein said seat cushion assembly comprises a seat cushion, an inner seat cushion frame, and a lower seat cushion frame and said seat back assembly comprises a back cushion and a back cushion frame, said inner seat cushion frame of said seat cushion assembly and said back cushion frame of said seat back assembly being operatively connected.

18. A stowable vehicle seat assembly for use in a vehicle cabin, the vehicle cabin having a front, a back, and a back wall, the seat assembly comprising:

a movable seat back assembly; and

a seat cushion assembly having an inner seat cushion frame and a lower seat cushion frame, said inner seat cushion frame and said lower seat cushion frame being operatively connected to allow for selective and reversible movement of said seat cushion assembly from a forward position to a rearward position, said seat assembly further comprising a locking mechanism to lock said inner seat cushion frame to said lower seat cushion frame.

19. The stowable vehicle seat assembly of claim 18 wherein said seat back assembly is pivotably attached to the back wall of the vehicle cabin.

20. The stowable vehicle seat assembly of claim 18 wherein said seat back assembly comprises a back cushion and a back cushion frame that is movably attached to the vehicle cabin back wall.
