Abstract

A base station control apparatus for controlling a radio base station which carries out radio communications with a mobile communication terminal is characterized in that it includes a control unit for performing a control process of making the radio base station selectively perform either of two or more processes with different throughputs according to the scale of the radio base station. With this structure, the radio base station can have only a function based on to the scale thereof. For this reason, by omitting unnecessary functions, the radio base station can be miniaturized and the manufacturing cost of the radio base station can be reduced.

Claims

1. A base station control apparatus for controlling a radio base station which carries out radio communications with a mobile communication terminal, characterized in that

said apparatus comprises a control unit for performing a control process of making said radio base station selectively perform either of two or more processes with different throughputs according to a scale of the radio base station.

The base station control apparatus according to claim 1, characterized in that said apparatus has a scale identifying unit for identifying the scale of said radio base station, and said control unit carries out a control process of making the radio base station selectively perform either of the two or more processes with different throughputs according to the scale of the radio base station identified by said scale identifying unit.

3. The base station control apparatus according to claim 2, characterized in that said scale identifying unit identifies the scale of the radio base station on a basis of base station scale information indicating the scale of the radio base station transmitted from the radio base station.

4. The base station control apparatus according to claim 3, characterized in that said base station scale information is scale identification information for identifying the scale of the radio base station.

The base station control apparatus according to claim 4, characterized in that said apparatus has a base-station-information storage unit for storing the base station identification information for identifying said radio base station, and the scale identification information of the radio base station while associating them with each other, and said scale identifying unit identifies the scale of the radio base station on a basis of the base station identification information of the radio base station transmitted from the radio base station, and the scale identification information stored in said base-station-information storage unit.

The base station control apparatus according to claim 3, characterized in that said base station scale information is information indicating maximum transmit power of the base station, information indicating a service cell radius of the base station, or information indicating the total channel capacity of the base station.

The base station control apparatus according to claim 3, characterized in that said apparatus has a scale information request unit for making a request of said radio base station for the base station scale information, and said scale identifying unit identifies the scale of the radio base station on a basis of the base station scale information which is transmitted from the radio base station as a response to said request.

The base station control apparatus according to claim 2, characterized in that said scale identifying unit identifies the scale of the radio base station on a basis of the base station scale information indicating the scale of the radio base station transmitted from a scale information server for acquiring said base station scale information.

The base station control apparatus according to claim 3, characterized in that said apparatus has a scale information request unit for making a request of said scale information server to transmit the base station scale information, and said scale identifying unit identifies the scale of a radio base station on a basis of the base station scale information which is transmitted from the scale information server as a response to said request.

10. The base station control apparatus according to claim 1, characterized in that said control unit carries out a control process of making the radio base station selectively perform either of a soft handover process and a hard handover process according to the scale of the radio base station.

The base station control apparatus according to claim 1, characterized in that said control unit carries out a control process of making the radio base station selectively perform either of a compressed mode process with a fixed transmission gap length and a compressed mode process with a variable transmission gap length according to the scale of the radio base station.

The base station control apparatus according to claim 1, characterized in that said control unit carries out a control process of making the radio base station selectively perform either of a plurality of transmission power control processes with different transmission power change periods according to the scale of a radio base station.

The base station control apparatus according to claim 1, characterized in that said control unit carries out a control process of making the radio base station selectively perform either of a plurality of transmission power control processes with different transmission power variations according to the scale of a radio base station.

The base station control apparatus according to claim 1, characterized in that said control unit carries out a control process of making the radio base station selectively perform either of a process of changing transmission power for each channel and a process of changing transmission powers for all channels at a time according to the scale of the radio base station.

The base station control apparatus according to claim 1, characterized in that said control unit carries out a control process of making the radio base station selectively perform either of a process of transmitting data about each channel and a process of transmitting data about all channels at a time according to the scale of the radio base station.

16. The base station control apparatus according to claim 1, characterized in that said control unit carries out a control process of making the radio base station selectively perform either of a plurality of error correction coding processes according to the scale of the radio base station.

The base station control apparatus according to claim 1, characterized in that said control unit carries out a control process of making the radio base station selectively perform either of an error correction coding process which is a same as that performed on a common channel on a dedicated channel, and an error correction coding process which is different from that performed on the dedicated channel according to the scale of the radio base station.

18. A radio base station which carries out radio communications with a mobile communication terminal according to a control signal from a base station control apparatus, characterized in that

said radio base station selectively performs either of a plurality of processes with different throughputs according to a control signal from base station control apparatus and according to a scale of the radio base station.
