- (a) a glucose meter measuring blood glucose level data; and
(b) a portable microprocessor-based unit in communication with the blood glucose meter such as to be capable of accessing said blood glucose level data;
(c) wherein input data corresponding to said blood glucose level data is used in a program of instructions running on the portable microprocessor-based unit or the glucose meter, or both; and
(d) wherein said program of instructions includes instructions to communicate a signal to inject insulin based upon said blood glucose level data.

Input data corresponding to the blood glucose level data is used in a program of instructions running on the portable microprocessor-based unit or the glucose meter, or both. The program of instructions includes instructions to communicate a signal to inject insulin based upon the bhlood glucose level data.

(d) inputting data based upon said blood glucose level data as input data for the program of instructions; and

(b) transmitting blood glucose level data based on the measured glucose levels into the portable microprocessor-based unit from the glucose meter;
(c) running a program of instructions on the portable microprocessor-based unit or the glucose meter or both;
(d) inputting data based upon said blood glucose level data as input data for the program of instructions; and
