Abstract

A recording medium, method and apparatus for managing data are discussed. According to an embodiment, the present invention provides a method of reproducing main data and additional data. The method includes receiving the additional data associated with the main data, the additional data being divided into a plurality of segment units; and reproducing the additional data in a synchronous manner with the main data using time information if indication information indicates a presence of the time information. The time information indicates a presentation time of the additional data with respect to the main data. The main data and the additional data are reproduced according to management data, the management data including link information for linking the main data and the additional data.

Claims

1. A computer-implemented method comprising:

receiving attribute data describing content data, the attribute data being divided into a plurality of segment units;

obtaining indication information representing user defined information including time information; and

reproducing the attribute data in a synchronous manner with the content data, using the time information associated with a presentation time of the content data, and using management data to associate the content data with the attribute data.

2. The method of claim 1,

wherein the content data and the attribute data are received separately, and

wherein reproducing the attribute data further comprises:

reading the attribute data and the content data separately, and

controlling a synchronization of the attribute data with respect to the content data using the time information.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein the indication information is provided separately from the content data and the attribute data.

4. The method of claim 1,

wherein each segment unit includes a corresponding time information, and

wherein each segment unit is reproduced using the corresponding time information.

5. The method of claim 1,

wherein each segment unit includes type information to indicate a type of the additional information, and

wherein the each segment unit is reproduced according to the type information.

6. The method of claim 1,

wherein each segment unit includes type information to indicate a type of the time information, and

wherein each segment unit is reproduced according to the type of the time information.

7. The method of claim 6, wherein the type of time information indicates one of a start time or a duration time of the corresponding segment unit.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein the user defined information includes presence information and type information of the time information.

9. A device comprising a processor configured to:

read attribute data describing content data, the attribute data being recorded on a storage medium and divided into a plurality of segment units,

obtain indication information representing user defined information including time information, and

reproduce the attribute data in a synchronous manner with the content data, using the time information associated with a presentation time of the content data, and using management data to associate the content data with the attribute data.

10. The device of claim 9, further comprising the storage medium, wherein the storage medium is configured to store the attribute data describing the content data.

11. A computer program product, tangibly embodied in a machine-readable medium, the computer program product comprising instructions that, when read by a machine, operate to cause data processing apparatus to:

receive attribute data describing content data, the attribute data being divided into a plurality of segment units;

obtain indication information representing user defined information including time information; and

reproduce the attribute data in a synchronous manner with the content data, using the time information associated with a presentation time of the content data, and using management data to associate the content data with the attribute data.
