Abstract

A method to help control the quality of printed three-dimensional objects is provided. The method may include printing a carpet of building material on a printing tray below and/or around the base of an object prior to printing the object such that the carpet may include one or more layers of modeling material. According to embodiments of the invention the carpet is served to prevent infiltration of air and/or radiation between the base of the object and the tray to prevent detachment of the object from the tray.

Claims

1. A three-dimensional object printing method, comprising:

printing a carpet of building material on a printing tray prior to printing an object, said carpet including one or more layers of modeling material and being printed below and/or around the base of said object, said carpet serving to prevent infiltration of air and/or radiation between the base of said object and said tray to prevent detachment of the object from the tray.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein said carpet protrudes outside the boundaries of said object.

3. The method of claim 1, comprising covering said modeling material with one or more layers of support material.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein said layers of support material keep said carpet flexible and adhesive in texture

5. The method of claim 1, comprising depositing additional modeling material over said support material.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein said carpet comprises layers of a combination of modeling material and support material.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the carpet comprises one or more pillars of modeling material interspersed with support material.

8. The method of claim 6, wherein the bottom layer includes pixels of support material to ease detachment of the object from the tray after printing.

9. A three-dimensional object printing method comprising:

printing a construction of building material on a printing tray to form a base for an object to be printed; and

dispensing building material on top of said construction to form a three-dimensional object, wherein said construction is to adhere to said object and to said printing tray.

10. The method of claim 9, wherein said construction comprises layers of modeling material and layers of support material.

11. The method of claim 10, wherein said construction provides a barrier layer between said object and said printing tray to prevent deformation due to different thermal coefficients of the object and the tray.

12. The method of claim 10, wherein said construction provides a carpet for said object to prevent deformation due to lifting of the object and/or object edges off the printing tray during printing.

13. The method of claim 10, wherein the bottom layer includes pixels of support material to ease detachment of the object from the tray after printing.

14. The method of claim 10, wherein said construction comprises one or more pillars of modeling material interspersed with support material.
