Abstract

A surface mapping and generating device which has devices for the process and/or cost optimization, in particular raw material recovery devices, an automatic control of the intensity of a used laser light, devices for carrying out a calibrating procedure by evaluating overlap errors at matching points, devices for archiving especially three-dimensional data of the jaw and/or for modeling the bite position of the upper and the lower jaws, devices for the optimized preparation of at least one dental stump for the production and placement of a dental prosthesis thereon and/or devices for taking into consideration the bite position of the upper and lower jaws. It can be provided that the devices for the process and/or cost optimization are designed to ensure that two half frames showing different positions or views are evaluated, whereby preferably a pulsed laser for exposure purposes is included and/or that an image recording device, in particular a CCD chip, is arranged so as to ensure that lines, taking into account the Scheimpflug angle, are located perpendicular to the direction of travel of a measuring table. Methods according to the present invention use such devices and function correspondingly. In addition, the invention also makes available a patient data archiving system which comprises a chip card and/or decentralized data storage systems especially for dental data.

Claims

1. A surface mapping device, in particular for obtaining surface data of teeth or a model thereof, having devices for process and/or cost optimisation, wherein it comprises a pulsed laser for exposure purposes.

2. A surface mapping device according to claim 1, wherein the device comprises a table which holds the object, the surface of which is to be mapped.

3. A surface mapping device according to claim 2, wherein the table can be continuously moved.

4. A surface mapping device according to claim 1, wherein the devices for the process and/or cost optimisation are designed so as to ensure that two half frames, which show different positions or views, are evaluated.

5. A surface mapping device according to claim 1, wherein the devices for the process and/or cost optimisation comprise an automatic control of the intensity of a laser light used.

6. A method of mapping a surface comprising the step of using a device according to claim 1.

7. A method of mapping a surface comprising the steps of:

holding an object, the surface of which is to be mapped, on a table;

continuously moving the table;

triggering a laser for exposure purposes by pulses, and

recording snapshots of each position of the object relative to the camera.

8. The method of claim 7, wherein each individual laser pulse is associated with the recording of a half frame.

9. A method for mapping a surface comprising the steps of:

evaluating a first view of the surface with a camera of a CCD chip;

evaluating a second view of the surface with the camera or CCD chip;

wherein the second view is different from the first view as a position of the surface relative to the camera or CCD chip is different for the first and second views, and

wherein the first and second views instead of including a full frame have half-frames, such that a first half-frame shows the first view and a second half frame shows the second view.

10. A method as set forth in claim 9, further comprising moving the surface between the steps of evaluating the first view and evaluating the second view.

11. A method as set forth in claim 10, further comprising moving the surface during the steps of evaluating the first view and evaluating the second view.

12. A method as set forth in claim 9, further comprising moving the surface during the steps of evaluating the first view and evaluating the second view.

13. A Device for mapping a surface with

a template for adjusting a jaw model to be mapped.

14. Device as set forth in claim 13, wherein different adjustment contours, for example three different adjustment contours are provided by the template such as engraved or otherwise suitably placed on the template.

15. Device as set forth in claim 13, wherein the template is made of transparent Plexiglas.

16. Method for mapping a surface, with the step of

adjusting a jaw model to be mapped with a template.

17. Method as set forth in claim 16, wherein different adjustment contours, such as for example three adjustment contours are provided by the template such as engraved or otherwise suitable placed on the template.

18. Method as set forth in claim 16, wherein the template is made of transparent Plexiglas.

19. A surface mapping and/or generating device characterized by devices for the process and/or cost optimisation, which comprise:

means for incorporating measured data of the jaw bones using a suitable matching software.

20. A surface mapping and/or generating device as set forth in claim 19, wherein the measured data of the jaw bones are data determined by a computed tomography.

21. A surface mapping and/or generating device as set forth in claim 19, wherein means for simulating a planned treatment such as e.g. the operation of a jaw, are provided, wherein for example in a software, the teeth, the jaw, and the jaw bone are divided into groups of tooth and jaw sections, up to individual teeth.

22. A surface mapping and/or generating device as set forth in claim 21, wherein the groups and/or individual teeth can be moved and the final positions can be simulated.

23. A surface mapping and/or generating device as set forth in claim 22, wherein it can be simulated whether the space required is in fact present and/or how the patient will look after the treatment.

24. A surface mapping and/or generating device as set forth in claim 23, wherein an electronic data processing/software module is provided, that can be used for follow-up treatment, wherein images, taken over time can be displayed in the form of an interpolated film.

25. A surface mapping and/or generating device as set forth in claim 19, wherein the device is adapted to plan and simulate implants.

26. A surface mapping and/or generating method with the step of:

using devices for the process and/or cost optimisation by incorporating measured data of the jaw bones using a suitable matching software.

27. A surface mapping and/or generating method as set forth in claim 26, wherein the measured data of the jaw bones are data determined by a computed tomography.

28. A surface mapping and/or generating method as set forth in claim 26, wherein a planned treatment such as e.g. the operation of a jaw, is simulated, wherein for example in a software, the teeth, the jaw, and the jaw bone are divided into groups of tooth and jaw sections, up to individual teeth.

29. A surface mapping and/or generating method as set forth in claim 28, wherein the groups and/or individual teeth are moved and the final positions are simulated.

30. A surface mapping and/or generating method as set forth in claim 29, wherein it is simulated whether the space required is in fact present and/or how the patient will look after the treatment.

31. A surface mapping and/or generating method as set forth in claim 30, wherein an electronic data processing/software module is used for follow-up treatment.

32. A surface mapping and/or generating method as set forth in claim 31, wherein images are taken over time by scanning/mapping.

33. A surface mapping and/or generating method as set forth in claim 32, wherein the images obtained by scanning/mapping are displayed in the form of an interpolated film.

34. A surface mapping and/or generating method as set forth in claim 32, wherein the progress in the actual treatment can be compared to the planned treatment, and based on this comparison, potentially required corrections can be made.

35. A surface mapping and/or generating method as set forth in claim 26, wherein implants can be planned and simulated.

36. Method, in which an optimised slip-on or clip-on direction for a cap or a bridge is obtained by minimizing under cuttings.

37. Method as set forth in claim 36, further comprising the steps of:

generating a data record by means of scanning which is used for model calculations to identify the optimum slip-on or clip-on direction;

using successively different slip-on or clip-on directions and determine the dead space due to under cuttings for each direction; and

identify the variation with the smallest dead space.

38. A surface mapping and/or generating device having devices for process and/or cost optimisation for carrying out the method of claim 36.

39. A surface mapping and/or generating device for producing a dental prostheses wherein devices for the process and/or cost optimisation are provided which comprise devices for an optimised preparation of at least one dental stump for the production and the placement of the dental prosthesis thereon.

40. A surface mapping and/or generating method comprising the steps of using a device according to claim 39.

41. Method with the steps of:

recording 3D-data of one dental stump or a combination of several dental stumps; and

preparing recommendations concerning what kind of work should be done on the dental stump or stumps that would more likely lead to an improvement of the fit and stability of the prosthesis to be manufactured, including what to do to markedly reduce the under cuttings or the dead spaces.

42. Method as set forth in claim 41, wherein an optimum slip-on or clip-on direction for a cap, in particular for a combination of a plurality of caps to form a bridge, is calculated, provided that changes in the shape of the dental stump/the dental stumps are possible.

43. Method as set forth in claim 41, with the step of graphically displaying the stumps.

44. Method as set forth in claim 43, displaying the stumps with specially dyed regions for finishing the work.

45. Device for recording 3D-data of one dental stump or a combination of several dental stumps wherein

means are provided for preparing recommendations concerning what kind of work should be done on the dental stump or stumps that would more likely lead to an improvement of the fit and stability of the prosthesis to be manufactured, including what to do to markedly reduce the under cuttings or the dead spaces.

46. Device as set forth in claim 45, wherein means are provided for calculating an optimum slip-on or clip-on direction for a cap, in particular for a combination of a plurality of caps to form a bridge, provided that changes in the shape of the dental stump/the dental stumps are possible.

47. Device as set forth in claim 45, wherein means are provided for graphically displaying the stumps.

48. Device as set forth in claim 47, wherein means are provided for displaying the stumps with specially dyed regions for finishing the work.

49. A surface mapping and generating device, characterized by devices for the process and/or cost optimization.

50. The surface mapping and generating device, in particular for the production of dental prostheses, as in claim 49, characterized in that the devices for the process and/or cost optimization comprise raw material recovery devices.

51. The surface mapping device, in particular for obtaining surface data of teeth, as in claim 49, characterized in that the devices for the process and/or cost optimization comprise an automatic control of the intensity of a laser light used.

52. The surface mapping device, in particular for obtaining surface data of teeth, as in claim 49, characterized in that the devices for the process and/or cost optimization are designed so as to ensure that two half frames, which show different positions or views, are evaluated.

53. The surface mapping device as in claim 52, characterized in that it comprises a pulsed laser for exposure purposes.

54. The surface mapping device, in particular for obtaining surface date of teeth, as in claim 49, characterized in that the devices for the process and/or cost optimization comprise devices for carrying out a calibration procedure by evaluating overlap errors at matching points.

55. The surface mapping device, in particular for obtaining surface data of teeth, as in claim 49, characterized in that an image recording device, in particular a CCD chip, is arranged so as to ensure that lines, taking into account the Scheimpflug angle, are located perpendicular to the direction of travel of a measuring table.

56. The surface mapping device, in particular for obtaining surface data of teeth, as in claim 49, characterized in that the devices for the process and/or cost optimization comprise devices for archiving especially three dimensional data of the jaw and/or for modeling the bite position of the upper and the lower jaws.

57. The surface mapping device as in claim 49, characterized in that the devices for the process and/or cost optimization comprise at least one embodiment according to FIGS. 3 and 4 and/or 5, 6, and 7 and the associated description.

58. The surface mapping and generating device, in particular for the production of dental prostheses, as in claim 49, characterized in that the devices for the process and/or cost optimization comprise devices for an optimized preparation of at least one dental stump for the production and the placement of a dental prosthesis thereon.

59. The surface mapping and generating device, in particular for the production of dental prostheses, as in claim 49, characterized in that the devices for the process and/or cost optimization comprise devices for taking into account the bite position of the upper and the lower jaws.

60. A surface mapping and/or generating method comprising the step of using a device according to claim 49.

61. A patient data archiving system, characterized by a chip card and/or decentralized data storage system especially for dental data.
