Abstract

A mobility architectural arrangement, which includes a set of software modules, is provided. A subset of the set of software modules implements a DiVitas description protocol (DDP), which is configured to transport data packets between applications clients on a handset and application servers within an enterprise. The set of modules includes a client DDP, which is configured to be loaded onto a mobility client of the handset. The client DDP is configured to perform at least one of sending the data packets from a first application client and receiving the data packets from a first application server. The set of modules includes a server DDP, which is configured to he loaded onto a mobility server managed by the enterprise. The server DDP is configured to perform at least one of sending the data packets from the first application server and receiving the data packets from the first application client.

Claims

1. A mobility architectural arrangement, comprising:

a set of software modules, at least a subset of said set of software modules implementing a DiVitas description protocol (DDP), said DDP being configured to transport data packets between a plurality of applications clients on a handset and a plurality of application servers within an enterprise, wherein said set of modules Including

a client DDP, said client DDP being configured to be loaded onto a mobility client of said handset, wherein said client DDP is configured to perform at least one of sending said data packets from a first application client from said plurality of application clients and receiving said data packets from a first application server from said plurality of application servers, and

a server DDP, said server DDP being configured to be loaded onto a mobility server managed by said enterprise, wherein said server DDP is configured to perform said at least one of said sending said data packets from said first application server and said receiving said data packets from said first application client.

2. The arrangement of claim 1 wherein said set of software modules further including

a DDP with security extension (DDPS) module, said DDPS module being configured to provide security functionality to said DDP,

a DiVitas Data Exchange (DDX) module, said DDX module being configured to handle a file from said first application client including

converting said file into a format capable of being transport through a secure channel and

breaking said file from said first application client into a plurality of data packets,

a reliable DDP (RDDP), said RDDP being configured to keep track of said plurality of data packets being sent from said DDX, and

a priority message scheduler module, said priority message scheduler module being configured to schedule and queue data traffic.

3. The arrangement of claim 2 wherein said DDPS is configured to establish said secure channel between said mobility client and said mobility server.

4. The arrangement of claim 3 wherein said DDPS is configured to include a database for storing authentication data.

5. The arrangement of claim 3 wherein said DDPS is configured to provide at least one of encryption functionality and decryption functionality.

6. The arrangement of claim 2 wherein said RDDP is configured to include a timer, said timer being configured to keep track of how quickly said plurality of data packets are being sent from said DDX.

7. The arrangement of claim 2 wherein said priority message scheduler module is configured to establish a hierarchy for handling said plurality of data packets.

8. The arrangement of claim 2 wherein said DDP is configured to be associated with a control protocol.

9. The arrangement of claim 8 wherein said control protocol is a session initiation protocol (SIP).

10. The arrangement of claim 2 wherein said DDP is configured to be associated with a transport protocol.

11. The arrangement of claim 10 wherein said transport protocol is a user datagram protocol (UDP).

12. The arrangement of claim 10 wherein said transport protocol is a transmission control protocol (TCP).

13. A method for implementing a set of software modules, at least a subset of said set of software modules implementing a DiVitas description protocol (DDP), comprising:

employing said DDP to transport data packets between a plurality of applications clients on a handset and a plurality of application servers within an enterprise;

establishing a secure channel between a mobility client of said handset and said mobility server to enable said data packets to be transported;

employing a client DDP, said client DDP being configured to perform at least one of sending said data packets from a first application client from said plurality of application clients and receiving said data packets from a first application server from said plurality of application servers; and

employing a server DDP, said server DDP being configured to perform said at least one of said sending said data packets from said first application server and said receiving said data packets from said first application client.

14. The method of claim 13 further including

employing a DiVitas Data Exchange (DDX) module, said DDX module being configured to handle a file including

converting said file into a format capable of being transport through said secure channel, and

breaking said file from said first application client into a plurality of data packets;

employing a reliable DDP (RDDP), said RDDP being configured to keep track of said plurality of data packets being sent from said DDX;

employing a DDP with security extension (DDPS) module, said DDPS module being configured to provide security functionality to said DDP; and

employing a priority message scheduler module, said priority message scheduler module being configured to schedule and queue data traffic.

15. The method of claim 14 wherein said DDPS is configured to include a database for storing authentication data.

16. The method of claim 14 wherein said DDPS is configured to provide at least one of encryption functionality and decryption functionality.

17. The method of claim 14 wherein said RDDP is configured to include a timer, said timer being configured to keep track of how quickly said plurality of data packets are being sent from said DDX.

18. The method of claim 14 wherein said RDDP is configured to send a DDP acknowledgement to said DDX to inform said DDX that said plurality of data packets has been received.

19. The method of claim 14 wherein said priority message scheduler module is configured to establish a hierarchy for handling said plurality of data packets.

20. The method of claim 14 wherein said DDP is configured to be associated with a control protocol.

21. The method of claim 20 wherein said control protocol is a session initiation protocol (SIP).

22. The method of claim 14 wherein said DDP is configured to be associated with a transport protocol.

23. The method of claim 22 wherein said transport protocol is a user datagram protocol (UDP).

24. The method of claim 22 wherein said transport protocol is a transmission control protocol (TCP).
