Abstract

Automatically selected adjusters are described, including selecting an area of an image, determining a characteristic of the area, and selecting an adjuster of a set of adjusters based on the characteristic of the area.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

selecting an area of an image;

determining a characteristic of the area; and

selecting an adjuster from a plurality of adjusters based on the characteristic of the area.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein selecting the area further comprises selecting the area in response to a user input.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein selecting the area further comprises selecting a pixel of the image.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein determining the characteristic of the area comprises determining a color of the area.

5. The method of claim 4, wherein selecting the adjuster comprises selecting the adjuster corresponding to a primary color corresponding to the color of the area.

6. The method of claim 4, further comprising:

determining a hue angle associated with the color of the area;

determining one or more primary colors associated with the set of adjusters; and

selecting the primary color from the one or more primary colors, the primary color having a range of hue angles within which the hue angle belongs.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein selecting the area comprises:

selecting a group of pixels; and

averaging a characteristic of the group of pixels to determine a primary characteristic.

8. The method of claim 2, further comprising adjusting the adjuster in response to the user input by moving a pointer relative to the area.

9. The method of claim 4, wherein the color of the area is user adjustable.

10. The method of claim 8, wherein adjusting the adjuster further comprises modifying the characteristic of the image in response to adjusting the adjuster.

11. The method of claim 1, further comprising converting the image to grayscale.

12. A method, comprising:

selecting an area of an image;

determining a color of the area and determining a hue angle of the color;

comparing the hue angle to a hue angle range of a primary color;

determining that the primary color corresponds to the color; and

selecting an adjuster associated with the primary color.

13. The method of claim 12, further comprising converting the image to grayscale.

14. The method of claim 12, wherein selecting an area of an image comprises selecting a pixel of the image.

15. The method of claim 12, further comprising adjusting the adjuster in response to a user input moving a pointer relative to the area.

16. The method of claim 14, wherein adjusting the adjuster comprises changing a characteristic of the image.

17. A system, comprising:

a memory configured to store data associated with an image; and

a processor configured to select an area of the image, to determine a characteristic of the area, and to select an adjuster from a plurality of adjusters based on the characteristic of the area.

18. The system of claim 17, the processor being further configured to select the area in response to a user input.

19. The system of claim 17, the processor being further configured to select a pixel of the image.

20. The system of claim 17, the processor being further configured to determine a color associated with the area, and to select the adjuster corresponding to a primary color corresponding to the color of the area.

21. The system of claim 20, the processor being further configured to determine a hue angle of the color of the area and to determine one or more primary colors associated with the set of adjusters, and to select the primary color from the one or more primary colors, the primary color having a range of hue angles within which the hue angle belongs.

22. A computer program product embodied in a computer readable medium and comprising computer instructions for:

selecting an area of an image;

determining a characteristic of the area; and

selecting an adjuster from a plurality of adjusters based on the characteristic of the area.

23. The computer program product of claim 22, wherein selecting the area further comprises selecting the area in response to a user input.

24. The computer program product of claim 22, wherein selecting the area further comprises selecting a pixel of the image.

25. The computer program product of claim 22,

wherein determining the characteristic of the area comprises determining a color of the area;

and

wherein selecting the adjuster comprises selecting the adjuster corresponding to a primary color corresponding to the color of the area.

26. The computer program product of claim 25, the computer instructions further comprising:

determining a hue angle of the color of the area;

determining one or more primary colors of the plurality of adjusters; and

selecting the primary color from the one or more primary colors, the primary color having a range of hue angles within which the hue angle belongs.
