Abstract

A system for matching users of mobile communications devices comprising first and second first mobile communications devices for transmitting information defining a location of the first mobile communications device and a system administrator. The system administrator matching the first and second mobile communication devices based on information defining the respective locations of the first and second mobile communication devices.

Claims

88. A system for matching users of mobile communications devices comprising:

a first mobile communications device for transmitting information defining a location of the first mobile communications device;

a second mobile communications device for transmitting information defining a location of the second mobile communications device; and

a system administrator having a processor coupled to a memory, the system administrator capable of communicating with the first mobile communications device over a first wireless communications link and with the second mobile communications device over a second wireless communications link, the memory storing first user information fields including information associated with a user of the first mobile communications device and second user information fields including information associated with a user of the second mobile communications device;

wherein the system administrator receives the information defining the location of the first mobile communications device and the location of the second mobile communications device and wherein the processor receives the first user information field and the second user information field to match the first user information field and the second user information field and, if there is a match, effects a transmission to the first mobile communications device of locating information based upon the information defining the location of the first mobile communications device and the location of the second mobile communications device.

89. The system according to claim 88, wherein the first user information fields include a location and the match of information of the users includes a match of the location with the location of the second mobile communications device.

90. The system according to claim 88, wherein at least one of the first and the second mobile communications devices includes an AVI for inputting the first and second user information fields.

91. The system according to claim 88, wherein at least one of the first mobile communications device and the second mobile communications device comprises at least one of a cellular phone, a vehicle, a personal data assistant, a global positioning system receiver, a transponder, a radio, a walkie-talkie, and a wireless Internet access device.

92. The system according to claim 88, wherein the locating information includes a map, directions, and an address.

93. The system according to claim 88, wherein the locating information includes at least one of audio information, video information, text files, and graphical information.

94. The system according to claim 88, wherein the locating information is updated to track a movement of at least one of the first and the second mobile communications devices.

95. The system according to claim 88, wherein the system administrator transmits additional information to at least one of the first and second mobile communications devices with the locating information.

96. The system according to claim 95, wherein the additional information is obtained over the Internet.

97. The system according to claim 88, wherein the user information fields of at least one of the first mobile communications device and the second mobile communications device include information identifying the user of the other mobile communications device.

98. The system according to claim 88, wherein the locating information is locating information for the second mobile communications device.

99. A system for matching users of mobile communications devices comprising:

a first mobile communications device for transmitting information defining a location of the first mobile communications device;

a second mobile communications device for transmitting information defining a location of the second mobile communications device; and

a system administrator having a processor coupled to a memory, the system administrator capable of communicating with the first mobile communications device over a first wireless communications link and with the second mobile communications device over a second wireless communications link, the memory storing first user information fields including information associated with a user of the first mobile communications device and second user information fields including information associated with a user of the second mobile communications device;

wherein the system administrator receives a user sending status from the second mobile communications device and the information defining the location of the first mobile communications device and the location of the second mobile communications device and wherein the processor receives the first user information field and the second user information field to match the first user information field and the second user information field and, if there is a match and depending upon the user sending status, effects a transmission to the first mobile communications device of locating information based upon the information defining the location of the first mobile communications device and the location of the second mobile communications device.

100. The system according to claim 99, wherein the first user information fields includes a location and the match of the first and second user information fields includes a match of the location with the location of the second mobile communications device.

101. The system according to claim 99, wherein at least one of the first and the second mobile communications devices includes an AVI for inputting the first and second user information fields.

The system according to claim 99, wherein at least one of the first mobile communications device and the second mobile communications device comprises at least one of a cellular phone, a vehicle, a personal data assistant, a global positioning system receiver, a transponder, a radio, a walkie-talkie, and a wireless Internet access device.

103. The system according to claim 99, wherein the locating information includes a map, directions, and an address.

104. The system according to claim 99, wherein the locating information includes at least one of audio information, video information, text files, and graphical information.

105. The system according to claim 99, wherein the locating information is updated to track a movement of at least one of the first and the second mobile communications devices.

106. The system according to claim 99, wherein the system administrator transmits additional information to at least one of the first and second mobile communications devices with the locating information.

107. The system according to claim 106, wherein the additional information is obtained over the Internet.

108. The system according to claim 99, wherein the user information fields of at least one of the first mobile communications device and the second mobile communications device include information identifying the user of the other mobile communications device.

109. The system according to claim 99, wherein the locating information is locating information for the second mobile communications device.

110. A system for matching users of mobile communications devices comprising:

a first mobile communications device for transmitting information defining a location of the first mobile communications device;

a second mobile communications device for transmitting information defining a location of the second mobile communications device; and

a system administrator having a processor coupled to a memory, the system administrator capable of communicating with the first mobile communications device over a first wireless communications link and with the second mobile communications device over a second wireless communications link, the memory storing first user information fields including information associated with a user of the first mobile communications device and second user information fields including information associated with a user of the second mobile communications device;

wherein the system administrator receives the information defining the location of the first mobile communications device and the location of the second mobile communications device and wherein the processor receives the first user information field and the second user information field to match the first user information field and the second user information field and, if there is a match, effects a transmission to the first mobile communications device of locating information for the second mobile communications device and effects a transmission to the second mobile communications device of locating information for the first mobile communications device, the locating information for;

the first and second mobile communications devices being based upon the information defining the location of the first mobile communications device and the location of the second mobile communications device.

111. The system according to claim 110, wherein the first user information fields and the second user information fields each include a location, and the match of the first and second user information fields includes a match of the respective locations.

112. The system according to claim 110, wherein at least one of the first and the second mobile communications devices includes an AVI for inputting the first and second user information fields.

The system according to claim 110, wherein at least one of the first mobile communications device and the second mobile communications device comprises at least one of a cellular phone, a vehicle, a personal data assistant, a global positioning system receiver, a transponder, a radio, a walkie-talkie, and a wireless Internet access device.

114. The system according to claim 110, wherein the locating information includes a map, directions, and an address.

115. The system according to claim 110, wherein the locating information includes at least one of audio information, video information, text files, and graphical information.

116. The system according to claim 110, wherein the locating information is updated to track a movement of at least one of the first and the second mobile communications devices.

117. The system according to claim 110, wherein the system administrator transmits additional information to at least one of the first and second mobile communications devices with the locating information.

118. The system according to claim 117, wherein the additional information is obtained over the Internet.

119. The system according to claim 110, wherein the user information fields of at least one of the first mobile communications device and the second mobile communications device include information identifying the user of the other mobile communications device.
