Abstract

Embodiments of the invention provide apparatuses, computer media, and methods for supporting lifestyle-reward health games, in which execution is altered based on health behavior of the participant. Input data indicative of the health behavior is obtained and converted into a gaming parameter. The gaming parameter is applied to the lifestyle-reward health game in order to alter the execution of the lifestyle-reward health game. A reward parameter for the participant may be determined based on a utility function, and the reward parameter is invoked when the participant is playing the life-reward health game. Feedback to the participant may be incorporated during the execution of the lifestyle-reward health game, where the feedback is indicative of the participant'"'"'s health behavior. An avatar may be depicted during execution of the lifestyle-reward health game to illustrate a predicted health condition, in which the depiction is altered by changing the timeframe of the predicted health condition.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

(a) obtaining input data indicative of health behavior of a participant;

(b) converting the input data into a gaming parameter;

(c) applying the gaming parameter to a lifestyle-reward health game; and

(d) altering execution of the lifestyle-reward health game to be indicative of the health behavior of the participant.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

(e) predicting a health condition of the participant from the input data; and

(f) determining the gaming parameter in accordance with the predicted health condition.

3. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

(e) mapping a gaming attribute to the health behavior of the participant; and

(f) executing the life-reward health game in accordance with the gaming attribute.

4. The method of claim 1, (d) comprising:

(d)(i) determining a reward parameter for the participant based on a utility function; and

(d)(ii) invoking the reward parameter when the participant is playing the life-reward health game.

5. The method of claim 4, (d) further comprising:

(d)(iii) estimating the utility function from a projected performance difference exhibited by the participant before and after a reward if provided.

6. The method of claim 5, further comprising:

(e) matching the reward based on a profile of the participant.

7. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

(e) incorporating feedback to the participant during the execution of the lifestyle-reward health game, the feedback being indicative of the participant'"'"'s health behavior.

8. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

(e) inferring a trait of the participant from the input data;

(f) translating the trait into the gaming parameter; and

(g) indicating a health consequence of the trait.

9. The method of claim 2, (e) comprising:

(e)(i) assessing the causality of the health condition based on at least one health factor.

10. The method of claim 9, further comprising:

(g) selecting a treatment based on the health condition; and

(h) generating feedback to the participant based on the treatment.

11. The method of claim 1, further comprising

(e) determining metadata from an activity of the participant;

and

(f) altering the execution of the lifestyle-reward health game based on the metadata.

12. The method of claim 11, further comprising:

(g) further determining the metadata from a social encounter of the participant.

13. The method of claim 2, further comprising:

(g) depicting an avatar to illustrate the predicted health condition.

14. The method of claim 13, further comprising:

(h) changing a timeframe of the predicted health condition; and

(i) altering the depiction of the avatar in accordance with the timeframe.

15. The method of claim 7, further comprising:

(f) tailoring the feedback based on a preference of the participant.

16. The method of claim 15, further comprising:

(g) determining the preference from immersive user data.

17. An apparatus comprising:

a memory; and

a processor accessing the memory to obtain computer-executable instructions and executing the computer-executable instructions for performing;

(a) obtaining input data indicative of health behavior of a participant;

(b) converting the input data into a gaming parameter;

(c) applying the gaming parameter to a lifestyle-reward health game; and

(d) altering execution of the lifestyle-reward health game to be indicative of the health behavior of the participant.

18. The apparatus of claim 17, the processor further executing the computer-executable instructions for performing:

(e) predicting a health condition of the participant from the input data; and

(f) determining the gaming parameter in accordance with the predicted health condition.

19. The apparatus of claim 17, the processor further executing the computer-executable instructions for performing:

(e) mapping a gaming attribute to the health behavior of the participant; and

(f) executing the life-reward health game in accordance with the gaming attribute.

20. The apparatus of claim 17, the processor further executing the computer-executable instructions for performing:

(e) incorporating feedback to the participant during the execution of the lifestyle-reward health game, the feedback being indicative of the participant'"'"'s health behavior.

21. The apparatus of claim 17, the processor further executing the computer-executable instructions for performing:

(e) inferring a trait of the participant from the input data;

(f) translating the trait into the gaming parameter; and

(g) indicating a health consequence of the trait.

22. The apparatus of claim 17, the processor further executing the computer-executable instructions for performing:

(e) determining metadata from an activity of the participant; and

(f) altering the execution of the lifestyle-reward health game based on the metadata.

23. The apparatus of claim 18, further comprising:

a display device; and

the processor further executing the computer-executable instructions for performing;

(g) depicting an avatar to illustrate the predicted health condition.

24. A computer-readable medium having computer-executable instructions to perform:

(a) obtaining input data indicative of health behavior of a participant;

(b) converting the input data into a gaming parameter;

(c) applying the gaming parameter to a lifestyle-reward health game; and

(d) altering execution of the lifestyle-reward health game to be indicative of the health behavior of the participant.

25. The computer-readable medium of claim 24, further configured to perform:

(e) predicting a health condition of the participant from the input data; and

(f) determining the gaming parameter in accordance with the predicted health condition.

26. The computer-readable medium of claim 24, further configured to perform:

(e) incorporating feedback to the participant during the execution of the lifestyle-reward health game, the feedback being indicative of the participant'"'"'s health behavior.

27. The computer-readable medium of claim 24, further configured to perform:

(e) determining metadata from an activity of the participant; and

(f) altering the execution of the lifestyle-reward health game based on the metadata.

28. The computer-readable medium of claim 25, further configured to perform:

(g) depicting an avatar to illustrate the predicted health condition.
