Abstract

An antenna arrangement comprising: including a first antenna element having a first feed for connection to radio frequency circuitry; and a second antenna element, separate to the first antenna element, having a second feed connected to the first feed.

Claims

1. An antenna arrangement comprising:

a first antenna element having a first feed for connection to radio frequency circuitry; and

a second antenna element, separate to the first antenna element, having a second feed connected to the first feed.

2. An antenna arrangement as claimed in claim 1, wherein the second antenna loads the first antenna to provide multi-band operation.

3. An antenna arrangement as claimed in claim 1, wherein the first and second antenna elements are separated by a particular phase delay.

4. An antenna arrangement as claimed in claim 1, further comprising a ground plane associated with at least the first antenna element.

6. An antenna arrangement as claimed in claim 4, wherein the first antenna element is positioned with a separation from the ground plane of less than 5 mm.

7. An antenna arrangement as claimed in claim 4, wherein the ground plane is a printed wiring board.

8. An antenna arrangement as claimed in claim 4, wherein the ground plane has first and second opposing edges and the first and second antenna elements are located at the respective first and second opposing edges.

9. An antenna arrangement as claimed in claim 8, wherein the first antenna element is positioned with a displacement perpendicular to a plane of the ground plane of less than 5 mm.

10. An antenna arrangement as claimed in claim 9, wherein the ground plane is a printed wiring board.

11. An antenna arrangement as claimed in claim 1, wherein the first feed and the second feed are connected via a transmission line

12. An antenna arrangement as claimed in claim 11, wherein the first antenna element is an inverted L antenna

13. An antenna arrangement as claimed in claim 11, wherein the first antenna element is a monopole

14. An antenna arrangement as claimed in claim 12, wherein the second antenna element is a monopole

15. An antenna arrangement as claimed in claim 1, wherein the second antenna is a pure load of the first antenna element.

16. An antenna arrangement as claimed in claim 1, wherein the second antenna is part of a matching network for the first antenna element that compensates for changes in the impedance of the first antenna element.

17. An apparatus comprising:

radio frequency circuitry and an antenna arrangement as claimed in claim 1.
