Abstract

A method (500) for dynamically providing location-based services based, at least in part, on time (114), current detected information (116, 118), historical information (124, 126), contextual information (128), user preferences (120, 130) and/or a user input (122).

Claims

1. A method for dynamically providing location-based services, comprising:

automatically identifying at least one user pattern of a user;

storing historical information that corresponds to the user pattern; and

responsive to detecting at least one parameter that corresponds to the historical information, processing the historical information to retrieve location-based service information that corresponds to the identified user pattern.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein identifying the user pattern comprises identifying a location visited by the user at a particular time.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein detecting the parameter that corresponds to the historical information comprises detecting that the user is at the identified location.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein identifying the user pattern comprises identifying a location visited by the user more than once at a particular time of day, on a particular day of a week, on a particular day of a month, or on a particular day of a year.

5. The method of claim 4, wherein detecting the parameter that corresponds to the historical information comprises detecting the particular time of day, the particular day of the week, the particular day of the month, or the particular day of the year.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein:

identifying the user pattern comprises identifying a motion parameter associated with the user; and

detecting the parameter that corresponds to the historical information comprises detecting the motion parameter associated with the user.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein:

identifying the user pattern comprises identifying a particular mode of transportation used by the user; and

detecting the parameter that corresponds to the historical information comprises detecting that the user is using the particular mode of transportation.

8. The method of claim 7, wherein:

identifying the user pattern comprises identifying a particular route traveled by the user; and

detecting the parameter that corresponds to the historical information comprises detecting that the user is traveling along the particular route.

9. The method of claim 1, further comprising processing at least one user preference to retrieve the location-based service information that corresponds to the identified user pattern.

10. A method for dynamically providing location-based services, comprising:

receiving at least one user input indicating a request for a suggested point of interest;

generating a query based on the user input and a time reference;

processing the generated query to identify a plurality of points of interest; and

presenting the points of interest to a user.

11. The method of claim 10, further comprising:

identifying a particular mode of transportation used by the user, wherein generating the query is further based on the particular mode of transportation.

12. The method of claim 10, further comprising:

identifying a particular route traveled by the user, wherein generating the query is further based on the particular route.

13. A system that dynamically provides location-based services, comprising:

a controller that automatically identifies at least one user pattern of a user, stores historical information that corresponds to the user pattern and, responsive to detecting at least one parameter that corresponds to the historical information, processes the historical information to retrieve location-based service information that corresponds to the identified user pattern.

14. The system of claim 13, wherein the controller identifies the user pattern by identifying a location visited by the user at a particular time.

15. The system of claim 13, wherein the controller detects the parameter that corresponds to the historical information by detecting that the user is at the identified location.

16. The system of claim 13, wherein the controller identifies the user pattern by identifying a location visited by the user more than once at a particular time of day, on a particular day of a week, on a particular day of a month, or on a particular day of a year.

17. The system of claim 16, wherein the controller detects the parameter that corresponds to the historical information by detecting the particular time of day, the particular day of the week, the particular day of the month, or the particular day of the year.

18. The system of claim 13, wherein the controller identifies the user pattern by identifying a motion parameter associated with the user.

19. The system of claim 18, wherein the controller detects the parameter that corresponds to the historical information by detecting the motion parameter associated with the user.

20. The system of claim 13, wherein the controller identifies the user pattern by identifying a particular mode of transportation used by the user.
