Abstract

A system for handling debug log messages in a computerized device under test that has a filesystem and a communications link. A virtual debug folder provides one or more virtual folders wherein the debug log messages are stored as synthesized filenames. The virtual folders are then viewable via the communications link as if actual folders of the filesystem and the synthesized filenames are viewable via the communications link as if actual filenames of the filesystem.

Claims

1. A system for handling debug log messages in a computerized device under test having a filesystem and a communications link, comprising:

a virtual debug folder to provide one or more virtual folders to store the debug log messages as synthesized filenames wherein said virtual folders are viewable via the communications link as if actual folders of the filesystem and said synthesized filenames are viewable via the communications link as if actual filenames of the filesystem.

The system of claim 1, wherein said virtual debug folder is controllable via the communications link to perform folder-level operations on said virtual folders and to perform file-level operations on said synthesized filenames equivalent to folder-level and file-level operations of the filesystem.

3. The system of claim 1, wherein said virtual debug folder performs escaping of the debug log messages to accommodate restrictions placed on name composition by the filesystem.

4. The system of claim 1, wherein said virtual debug folder prepends a serialized value to said synthesized filenames to order said synthesized filenames.

5. The system of claim 1, wherein said virtual debug folder maps said synthesized filenames to an order based on a preset criteria.

6. The system of claim 5, wherein said preset criteria is when said virtual debug folder received the debug log messages.

7. The system of claim 1, wherein said virtual debug folder sets fields in said synthesized filenames to values based on a preset criteria.

8. The system of claim 7, wherein said preset criteria is when said virtual debug folder received the debug log messages.

9. The system of claim 1, wherein said virtual debug folder puts said synthesized filenames in a plurality of said virtual folders based on a preset criteria.

10. The system of claim 1, wherein said virtual debug folder encrypts said synthesized filenames.

11. The system of claim 1, wherein said virtual debug folder is selectively command able via the communications link to show said synthesized filenames.

12. A method for making debug log messages in a computerized device under test having a filesystem viewable via a communications link, the method comprising:

providing one or more virtual folders, wherein said virtual folders are viewable via the communications link as if actual folders of the filesystem; and

creating synthesized filenames in said one or more virtual folders based on the debug log messages, wherein said synthesized filenames are viewable via the communications link as if actual filenames of the filesystem.

The method of claim 12, further comprising at least one member of the set consisting of performing folder-level operations on said virtual folders equivalent to folder-level operations of the filesystem and performing file-level operations on said synthesized filenames equivalent to file-level operations of the filesystem.

14. The method of claim 12, further comprising escaping the debug log messages to accommodate restrictions placed on name composition by the filesystem

15. The method of claim 12, further comprising prepending a serialized value to said synthesized filenames to order said synthesized filenames

16. The method of claim 12, further comprising at least on member of the set consisting of mapping said synthesized filenames to an order and setting fields in said synthesized filenames to values based on a preset criteria.

17. The method of claim 16, wherein said preset criteria is when the debug log messages are received.

18. The method of claim 12, wherein said putting said synthesized filenames in said one or more virtual folders is based on a preset criteria.

19. The method of claim 12, further comprising encrypting said synthesized filenames.

20. The method of claim 12, further comprising making said synthesized filenames viewable or hidden based on command via the communications link.
