A radio remote control for controlling one or more functions of a crane, preferably of a mobile crane, wherein the radio remote control comprises a hand-held transmitter, whose hardware components are not adapted to the type or configuration of the crane and thus are identical for a plurality of cranes differing in type or configuration, and which is programmable for the purpose of adaptation to the type or configuration of the crane whose function or functions should be controlled by the hand-held transmitter.
