Abstract

A method of displaying an attachment file list in a mobile communication terminal comprises receiving a message, selecting an attachment file list view menu in order to check entire attachment files comprised in the message, and extracting the attachment files comprised in the message and then displaying a list of the extracted attachment files.

Claims

1. A method of displaying information in a mobile communication terminal, comprising:

displaying a list of one or more messages stored in a remote message server;

without downloading the one or more messages, displaying a list of files attached to or embedded in the one or more messages;

selecting one or more files from the displayed list of files; and

wirelessly downloading the selected one or more files.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the message is an e-mail message.

14. The method of claim 1, comprising:

selecting one of a file name download menu, a file content download menu, and an e-mail message download menu.

3. A method of downloading information to a mobile communications terminal, comprising:

wirelessly requesting via an e-mail protocol a list of file names corresponding to files attached to or embedded in one or more messages stored in a remote message server; and

wirelessly downloading and displaying the list of file names without downloading the one or more messages and without downloading the files.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein the e-mail protocol is an Internet Mail Access Protocol (IMAP) 4.

15. The method of claim 3, comprising:

selecting one of a file name download menu, a file content download menu, and an e-mail message download menu.

5. A method of downloading information to a mobile communications terminal, comprising:

wirelessly requesting via an e-mail protocol a list of file names corresponding to files attached to or embedded in one or more messages stored in a remote message server; and

wirelessly downloading the files, and displaying the list of file names, without downloading the one or more messages.

6. The method of claim 5, wherein the e-mail protocol is an Internet Mail Access Protocol (IMAP) 4.

16. The method of claim 5, comprising:

selecting one of a file name download menu, a file content download menu, and an e-mail message download menu.

7. A method of uploading information from a mobile communication terminal to a mail server using an e-mail protocol, comprising:

displaying a list of files attached to or embedded in one or more messages stored in the mobile communication terminal;

selecting a file from the list of files; and

without uploading the one or more messages, wirelessly uploading the selected file to the mail server using the e-mail protocol.

8. The method of claim 7, wherein the e-mail protocol is an IMAP 4, and the instruction for requesting to upload the attachment file is an Append instruction.

9. A mobile communication terminal, comprising:

a display;

an input configured to enable a user to request information via an e-mail protocol and to display a list of one or more messages stored in a remote message server;

a wireless transceiver configured to relay the request to the remote message server and to receive a corresponding reply; and

a controller configured to cause the display to, without downloading the one or more messages, display a list of files attached to or embedded in the one or more messages, the controller further configured to enable the user to select one or more files from the displayed list of files, and to download the selected one or more files.

17. The mobile communication terminal of claim 9, wherein the controller is configured to enable a user to select one of a file name download menu, a file content download menu, and an e-mail message download menu.

10. A mobile communication terminal comprising:

a display;

an input configured to enable a user to request via an e-mail protocol a list of file names corresponding to files attached to or embedded in one or more messages stored in a remote message server;

a wireless transceiver configured to relay the request to the remote message server and to receive a corresponding reply; and

a controller configured to cause the display to, without downloading the one or more messages, display the list of file names without downloading the one or more messages and without downloading the files.

11. The mobile communication terminal of claim 10, wherein the email protocol is IMAP 4.

18. The mobile communication terminal of claim 10, wherein the controller is configured to enable a user to select one of a file name download menu, a file content download menu, and an e-mail message download menu.

12. A mobile communication terminal, comprising:

a display;

an input configured to enable a user to request via an e-mail protocol a list of file names corresponding to files attached to or embedded in one or more messages stored in a remote message server;

a wireless transceiver configured to relay the request to the remote message server and to receive a corresponding reply; and

a controller configured to download the files, and to display the list of file names, without downloading the one or more messages.

13. The mobile communication terminal of claim 12, wherein the email protocol is IMAP 4.

19. The mobile communication terminal of claim 12, wherein the controller is configured to enable a user to select one of a file name download menu, a file content download menu, and an e-mail message download menu.

20. A mobile communication terminal, comprising:

a display configured to enable a user to view a list of file names corresponding to locally stored files attached to or embedded in one or more locally stored messages;

an input configured to enable the user to select one file name from the list of file names and to upload the corresponding file to a remote server without uploading the corresponding message using an email protocol;

a wireless transceiver configured to relay the file to the remote server; and

a controller configured to control the display and wireless transceiver.
