13. A digitizer device, comprising:

a position indicator, including; a housing; an elongated magnetic core disposed in said housing, said magnetic core having an elongated hole extending therethrough, and said magnetic core comprising a composition of soft magnetic metal powder mixed with a binder resin; a core stem extending through said elongated hole, said core stem having a pen tip extending from said magnetic core at a first end and a conductive elastic member extending from said magnetic core at a second end opposite to said first end, and said core stem being movable with respect to said housing; a resonant coil wound around said magnetic core for electromagnetic communication; and a variable capacitance operably associated with said conductive elastic member, said variable capacitance comprising a dielectric element, a first electrode disposed on a first surface of said dielectric element, and a second electrode disposed on a second surface of said dielectric element opposite to said first electrode, wherein said elastic conductive member changes an area of the variable capacitance when forced into contact with said dielectric element. - View Dependent Claims (14, 15, 16)

a mold defining an inner cavity receiving a melted composition of soft magnetic metal powder and an organic binder resin; an elongated major surface of said inner cavity forming a major outer surface of a magnetic core, said major surface defining a first opening having a first dimension at a first end of said inner cavity; and a minor surface of said inner cavity extending from said major surface and being angled with respect therereto, said minor surface being gradually tapered and forming a semi-conical minor outer surface of the magnetic core, said minor surface defining a second opening having a second dimension at a second end of said inner cavity, said second dimension being smaller than said first dimension. - View Dependent Claims (18, 19)

20. A method of manufacturing a magnetic core for a position indicator of a digitizer tablet, said method comprising the steps of:

mixing soft magnetic metal particles with a binder resin in a hopper to form a composition; melting the composition and injecting the composition into a mold defining a cavity; molding the composition into a solid magnetic core having the shape of an inner cavity of the mold by applying the composition to a major surface of the inner cavity and to a minor surface of the inner cavity extending from the major surface at an angle so that the composition forms a main elongated portion corresponding to the major surface of the inner cavity and a tapered, semi-conical portion corresponding to the minor surface of the inner cavity; and removing the solid magnetic core from the mold. - View Dependent Claims (21, 22, 23, 24)
