Abstract

A digital image storage system includes a digital camera having a memory capable of storing digital images and an adapter on which the digital camera is to be laid down=for informing the adapter of the digital images in the memory. The digital image storage system further includes a data storage having a storage medium that stores the digital images informed through the adapter. The data storage is in cooperation with the digital camera by way of the adapter to delete a digital image from the memory of the digital camera in case of the digital image completely informed and stored in the storage medium.

Claims

1. A digital image storage system comprising:

a digital camera having a memory capable of storing digital images and a manually operable power switch that switches the digital camera between an operative state and an inoperative state;

a data storage including a docking station on which the digital camera can be placed and a storage medium that stores the digital images transmitted from the digital camera memory through the docking station; and

a controller that controls reading-out of the digital images from the digital camera memory and the transmission of the digital images from the digital camera memory to the storage medium without a manual operation of the power switch to switch the digital camera from the inoperative state to the operative state.

2. The digital image storage system according to claim 1, wherein the controller switches the digital camera from the inoperative state to the operative state without the manual operation of the power switch.

3. The digital image storage system according to claim 1, wherein the controller transmits a signal to the digital camera for switching the digital camera from the inoperative state to the operative state before the digital images are transmitted from the digital camera.

4. The digital image storage system according to claim 3, wherein the digital camera switches from the inoperative state to the operative state in response to the signal transmitted by the controller.

5. The digital image storage system according to claim 1, wherein the controller switches the digital camera from the operative state to the inoperative state after the transmission of the digital images is completed.

6. The digital image storage system according to claim 1, wherein the controller is located at the data storage.

7. The digital image storage system according to claim 1, wherein the docking station has a shape to fit a bottom of the digital camera.

8. A digital image storage system comprising:

a digital camera having a memory capable of storing digital images and a manually operable power switch that switches the digital camera between an operative state and an inoperative state;

a docking station on which the digital camera can be placed;

a storage medium that stores the digital images transmitted from the digital camera memory through the docking station; and

a controller that controls reading-out of the digital images from the digital camera memory and the transmission of the digital images from the digital camera memory to the storage medium without a manual operation of the power switch to switch the digital camera from the inoperative state to the operative state.

9. The digital image storage system according to claim 8, wherein the controller switches the digital camera from the inoperative state to the operative state without the manual operation of the power switch.

10. The digital image storage system according to claim 8, wherein the controller transmits a signal to the digital camera for switching the digital camera from the inoperative state to the operative state before the digital images are transmitted from the digital camera.

11. The digital image storage system according to claim 10, wherein the digital camera switches from the inoperative state to the operative state in response to the signal transmitted by the controller.

12. The digital image storage system according to claim 8, wherein the controller switches the digital camera from the operative state to the inoperative state after the transmission of the digital images is completed.

13. The digital image storage system according to claim 8, wherein the docking station has a shape to fit a bottom of the digital camera.

14. A digital camera that can be placed on a docking station, the digital camera comprising:

a memory capable of storing digital images;

a battery;

a manually operable power switch that switches the digital camera between an operative state and an inoperative state, the operative state being a state in which stored digital images can be read and transmitted from the memory;

a first connector through which data communication between the docking station and the digital camera is carried out when the digital camera is placed on the docking station;

a controller that receives a signal through the first connector for switching the digital camera from the inoperative state to the operative state without a manual operation of the power switch; and

a second connector through which the docking station supplies the battery with electric power to charge the battery when the digital camera is placed on the docking station.
