Abstract

The present invention relates generally to a manner by which to page an access terminal of a radio communication system to alert the access terminal of a pending call, or other communication. More particularly, the present invention relates to apparatus, and an associated method, that provides for the generation, sending, and analysis of a quick page message upon a paging channel, such as a QPCH (quick paging channel) defined in an exemplary cellular communication system. The page message is formed in a manner that reduces the likelihood of occurrence of false wakeup of an access terminal. Excessive battery depletion, as a result of false wakeup of the access terminal, is avoided.

Claims

1. A method for determining a paging indicator location in a message comprising:

setting a first decorrelate value to two times SessionSeed[11;

0]; and

using the first decorrelate value to determine a first paging indicator location.

2. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

setting a second decorrelate value to six times SessionSeed[11;

0]; and

using the second decorrelate value to determine a second paging indicator location, wherein the message comprises the first paging indicator location and the second paging indicator location.

3. The method of claim 2 further comprising:

setting a third decorrelate value to fourteen times SessionSeed[11;

0]; and

using the third decorrelate value to determine a third paging indicator location, wherein the message comprises the first paging indicator location, the second paging indicator location, and the third paging indicator location.

4. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

setting a second decorrelate value to fourteen times SessionSeed[11;

0]; and

using the second decorrelate value to determine a second paging indicator location, wherein the message comprises the first paging indicator location and the second paging indicator location.

5. A method of determining a paging indicator location in a message comprising:

setting a first decorrelate value to fourteen times SessionSeed[11;

0]; and

using the first decorrelate value to determine a first paging indicator location.

6. The method of claim 5 further comprising:

setting a second decorrelate value to six times SessionSeed[11;

0]; and

using the second decorrelate value to determine a second paging indictor location, wherein the message comprises the first paging indicator location and the second paging indicator location.

7. A method of determining a paging indicator location in a message comprising:

setting a first decorrelate value to six times SessionSeed[11;

0]; and

using the first decorrelate value to determine a first paging indicator location.

8. An apparatus for determining a paging indicator location comprising:

a hash generator configured to set a first decorrelate value to two times SessionSeed[11;

0]; and

a paging message element adapted to receive the first decorrelate value and to utilize the first decorrelate value to determine a first location of a paging indicator in a message.

9. The apparatus of claim 8, wherein,

the hash generator is further configured to set a second decorrelate value to six times SessionSeed[11:

0]; and

the paging message element is adapted to receive the second decorrelate value and to utilize the second decorrelate value to determine a second location of a paging indicator in the message.

10. The apparatus of claim 9, wherein,

the hash generator is further configured to set a third decorrelate value to fourteen times SessionSeed[11:

0]; and

the paging message element is adapted to receive the third decorrelate value and to utilize the third decorrelate value to determine a third location of a paging indictor in the message.

11. The apparatus of claim 8, wherein,

the hash generator is further configured to set a second decorrelate value to fourteen times SessionSeed[11:

0]; and

the paging message element is adapted to receive the second decorrelate value and to utilize the second decorrelate value to determine a second location of a paging indictor in the message.

12. An apparatus for determining a paging indictor location comprising:

a hash generator configured to set a first decorrelate value to fourteen times SessionSeed[11;

0]; and

a paging message element adapted to receive the first decorrelate value and to utilize the first decorrelate value to determine a first location of a paging indicator in a message.

13. The apparatus of claim 12, wherein

the hash generator is further configured to set a second decorrelate value to six times SessionSeed[11:

0]; and

the paging message element is adapted to receive the second decorrelate value and to utilize the second decorrelate value to determine a second location of a paging indicator in the message.

14. An apparatus for determining a paging indictor location comprising:

a hash generator configured to set a first decorrelate value to six times SessionSeed[11;

0]; and

a paging message element adapted to receive the first decorrelate value and to utilize the first decorrelate value to determine a first location of a paging indicator in a message.
