Abstract

Methods and systems for managing virtual working pages are disclosed. One method includes storing a first set of parameters in a working page within the tested system, where the first set of parameters is used for calibration of the tested system. The method also includes storing a second set of parameters in a virtual working page within an observation system having a plurality of virtual working pages. The method further includes transferring the second set of parameters from the observation system to the tested system. The method also includes storing one or more parameters of the second set of parameters in the working page. A related user interface is also disclosed.

Claims

1. A method of changing parameters in a tested system, the method comprising:

storing a first set of parameters in a working page within the tested system, the first set of parameters used for calibration of the tested system;

storing a second set of parameters in a virtual working page within an observation system, the observation system including a plurality of virtual working pages;

transferring the second set of parameters from the observation system to the tested system;

storing one or more parameters of the second set of parameters in the working page.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein storing one or more parameters of the second set of parameters results in overwriting the first set of parameters.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the tested system is an electronic control unit.

4. The method of claim 1, further comprising storing a plurality of parameters in a plurality of working pages within the observation system.

5. The method of claim 1, further comprising storing the first set of parameters in a second virtual working page of the observation system.

6. The method of claim 5, further comprising restoring the first set of parameters in the working page.

7. The method of claim 1, further comprising displaying the contents of the one or more virtual working page to a user.

8. The method of claim 1, further comprising, prior to storing the second set of parameters in the working page, displaying the working page to a user.

9. The method of claim 1, further comprising, after storing the second set of parameters in the working page, displaying the working page to a user.

10. The method of claim 1, further comprising displaying the contents of a reference page to a user.

11. The method of claim 1, wherein a reference page is stored in a non-volatile memory of the tested system.

12. The method of claim 1, wherein a reference page is stored in a read-only memory of the tested system.

13. The method of claim 1, further comprising allowing a user to select the one or more parameters of the second set of parameters.

14. The method of claim 1, wherein the working page exists in a read/write memory of the tested system.

15. The method of claim 1, wherein storing the second set of parameters includes reading the second set of parameters from a data file.

16. An observation system interfaceable with a tested system the observation system comprising:

a memory configured to store a plurality of virtual working pages, each of the plurality of virtual working pages including a set of parameters useable for calibration of a tested system;

a display device;

a programmable circuit operatively connected to the memory and the display device, the programmable circuit configured to execute program instructions to;

display one or more of the plurality of virtual working pages on the display device;

receive a selection of one of the virtual working pages;

transfer a set of parameters from the selected virtual working page from the observation system to the tested system.

17. The observation system of claim 16, wherein the programmable circuit is further programmed to receive contents of a working page of the tested system.

18. The observation system of claim 17, wherein the programmable circuit is further programmed to store the contents of the working page in the memory.

19. The observation system of claim 16, wherein the programmable circuit is further programmed to receive contents of a reference page of the tested system.

20. The observation system of claim 19, wherein the programmable circuit is further programmed to store the contents of the reference page in the memory.

21. The observation system of claim 16, wherein the programmable circuit is further programmed to store contents of an original working page in the memory.

22. A method in a computer system for displaying on a display device a plurality of virtual working pages, each of the virtual working pages including a set of parameters useable for calibration of a tested system, the method comprising:

storing the plurality of virtual working pages in a memory of the computer system; and

displaying a table having columns and rows, at least one column representing contents of one of the plurality of virtual working pages, the rows representing parameters useable for calibration of the tested system.

23. The method of claim 22, further comprising displaying in a column the contents of a working page of the tested system.

24. The method of claim 22, further comprising displaying in a column the contents of a reference page of the tested system.

25. The method of claim 22, further comprising displaying in a column the contents of an original working page of the tested system.
