Abstract

The present invention generally discloses methods, devices and systems for controlling application launching by means of a dedicated application launching table. According to a first aspect of the present invention a method for controlling launching of an application in a first mobile terminal device is provided. Said first mobile device comprises a first near field communication (NFC) module. The method according to the present invention comprises the steps of maintaining a dedicated application launching table, detecting the presence of a second device adapted to communicate with said first terminal device, determining identification parameters relating to said second device, and launching at least one predetermined application in said first device, wherein said application is selected to be launched based on entries in said dedicated application launching table and on said determined identification parameters.

21. A method, comprising:

maintaining a dedicated application launching table for launching an application in a device having a near field communication (NFC) module;

detecting the presence of a second device adapted to communicate with said device;

determining identification parameters relating to said second device; and

launching at least one predetermined application in said first device, wherein said application is selected to be launched based on entries in said dedicated application launching table and on said determined identification parameters.

22. The method of claim 21, further comprising:

providing an interface to allow applications to perform entries within said dedicated application launching table based on at least a combination of said determined identification parameters, dedicated record type information, and additional information.

23. The method of claim 21, wherein said identification parameters comprise information about a data type within said second device.

24. The method of claim 21, wherein said identification parameters comprise information about the physical type of said second device.

25. The method of claim 21, wherein said detecting is provided by means of said NFC-module of said first device.

26. The method of claim 21, wherein said determining is based on received information from said second device.

27. The method of claim 21, further comprising:

determining if said application requires interacting with a secure smartcard module embodied in said device for communicating with said second device on the basis of said dedicated table entries; and

passing control of the NFC-module to said secure smartcard module in case of an affirmative determination, to communicate with said second device by connecting said NFC-module with said secure smartcard module.

28. The method of claim 27, further comprising:

starting a data transaction between said first device and said second device based on an NFC communication interface provided by said secure smartcard module without user input by means of said first device.

29. The method of claim 21, wherein said launching is based on received environmental data taken from the group consisting of temperature, air pressure, and humidity.

30. A computer program product, comprising:

a computer readable medium containing program code executable on a processor;

program code in said computer readable medium for maintaining a dedicated application launching table for launching an application in a device having a near field communication (NFC) module;

program code in said computer readable medium for detecting the presence of a second device adapted to communicate with said first device;

program code in said computer readable medium for determining identification parameters relating to said second device; and

program code in said computer readable medium for launching at least one predetermined application in said first device, wherein said application is selected to be launched based on entries in said dedicated application launching table and on said determined identification parameters.

31. A computer data signal embodied in a carrier wave and representing instructions, which when executed by a processor cause the operations of the method steps, comprising:

maintaining a dedicated application launching table for launching an application in a first device having a near field communication (NFC) module;

detecting the presence of a second device adapted to communicate with said first terminal device;

determining identification parameters relating to said second device; and

launching at least one predetermined application in said first device, wherein said application is selected to be launched based on entries in said dedicated application launching table and on said determined identification parameters.

32. An apparatus, comprising:

a processor for maintaining a dedicated application launching table;

a near field communication (NFC) module coupled to said processor, for detecting the presence of a second device adapted to communicate with said apparatus;

said processor determining identification parameters relating to said second device based on said detection;

said processor launching at least one predetermined application in said apparatus, wherein said application is selected to be launched based on entries in said dedicated application launching table and on said determined identification parameters.

33. The apparatus of claim 32, further comprising:

a secure smartcard module coupled to said processor in said apparatus;

said processor determining if said application requires interacting with said secure smartcard module for communicating with a second device on the basis of dedicated entries in said application launching table.

34. The apparatus of claim 32, further comprising:

a memory coupled to said processor for storing said dedicated application launching table;

said processor enabling applications to perform entries within said dedicated application launching table based on at least a combination of said determined identification parameters and dedicated information in said table.

35. An apparatus, comprising:

means for maintaining a dedicated application launching table;

means for detecting the presence of a second device adapted to communicate with said apparatus;

means for determining identification parameters relating to said second device based on said detection;

means for launching at least one predetermined application in said apparatus, wherein said application is selected to be launched based on entries in said dedicated application launching table and on said determined identification parameters.

36. A system, comprising:

a first device for maintaining a dedicated application launching table;

a second device adapted to communicate with said first device;

a near field communication (NFC) module in said first device, for detecting the presence of the second device;

said first device determining identification parameters relating to said second device based on said detection;

said first device launching at least one predetermined application in said first device, wherein said application is selected to be launched based on entries in said dedicated application launching table and on said determined identification parameters.

37. The system of claim 36, wherein the second device comprises a RFID transponder.

38. The system of claim 37, wherein the RFID transponder comprises a passive RFID tag capable of collecting energy from received communication signals and using said collected energy for responding to said received communication signals.

39. The system of claim 36, wherein the second device comprises a point-of sale (PoS) terminal capable of communicating using a second NFC-module.

40. The system of claim 36, wherein the second device comprises a second NFC-module.
