providing electrical stimulation to tissue of a subject to activate a diaphragm wherein the stimulation comprises a first stimulation portion of a first type of stimulation and a second stimulation portion of a second type of stimulation, wherein the first stimulation signal portion biases lung volume during a non-inspiratory portion of a respiration cycle and the second stimulation signal elicits an inspiration. - View Dependent Claims (28, 29)

an electrical stimulator wherein the electrical stimulator configured to deliver stimulation to tissue of a subject to thereby activate diaphragm muscle; -
