1. A method of managing an upstream system for production from a subterranean reservoir, comprising:

  • determining a characteristic of operation of a well for extracting a product from the subterranean reservoir;

    determining a characteristic of an operation of a processing and transport system for processing the product and transporting the product to a point of sale;

    determining a characteristic of the subterranean reservoir;

    automatically determining, in response to the characteristics, a control setting for the well using a well model for modeling the well, a subterranean reservoir model for modeling the subterranean reservoir, and a processing and transport system model for modeling the processing and transport system, the control setting determined based at least on a specified operational objective; and

    automatically initiating an adjustment to the well in response to the control setting.
