Abstract

Embodiments related generally to a method of providing continuous availability subscription service. The method includes retrieving a configuration data of a customer, where the configuration data relates to the hardware and application requirements of the customer. The method also includes creating a virtual machine for the customer based on the configuration data of the customer in response to a catastrophic event at a site of the customer.

Claims

1. A method of providing continuous availability subscription service:

retrieving a configuration data of a customer, wherein the configuration data relates to the hardware and application requirements of the customer;

creating a virtual machine for the customer based on the configuration data of the customer in response to a catastrophic event at a site of the customer.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising providing access to the virtual machine at a site selected by the customer.

3. The method of claim 1, further comprising providing access to the virtual machine at a site.

4. The method of claim 1, further comprising receiving the client information of the customer, wherein the client information relates to hardware and application requirements of the customers.

5. The method of claim 4, wherein the client information includes business requirements.

6. The method of claim 4, further comprising providing for a service portal to receive the client information and convert the client information into configuration data.

7. The method of claim 4, further comprising storing the client information of the customer in a secure location.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein the virtual machine includes a virtual machine for each user of the customer.

9. The method of claim 1, further comprising creating state information of the customer based on the configuration data and the customer data, wherein the virtual machine for the customer is further based on the state information.

10. A system for providing continuous availability, the system comprising:

a service portal configured to provide subscription services; and

a secure location configured to store configuration data of a customer entered through the service portal, wherein the service portal can be configured to invoke the secure location to retrieve the configuration data of the customer, the configuration data relates to the hardware and application requirements of the customer, and to create a virtual machine for the customer based on the configuration data of the customer in response to a catastrophic event at a site of the customer.

11. The system of claim 10, wherein the secure location can provide access to the virtual machine at a site selected by the customer.

12. The system of claim 11, wherein the secure location can provide access to the virtual machine.

13. The system of claim 12, wherein the service portal is configured to receive the configuration data of the customer, wherein the configuration data relates to hardware and application requirements of the customers.

14. The system of claim 13, wherein the service portal is configured to receive the configuration data through a web page.

15. The system of claim 13, wherein the service portal is configured to receive the configuration data by technical support personnel.

16. The system of claim method of claim 13, wherein the secure location is configured to store the configuration data of the customer.

17. The system of claim 10, wherein the virtual machine includes a virtual machine for each user of the customer.

18. The system of claim 10, wherein the virtual machines includes a virtual machine for each application of the customer.

19. The system of claim 10, further comprising creating state information of the customer based on the configuration data and the customer data, wherein the virtual machine for the customer is further based on the state information.
