1. A system for batch process definition, the system comprising:

  • a) a modeler which is operable to interface with a user to enable the user to generate an execution flow via a graphical interface for building one or more flow rules to build a batch process,i) wherein the modeler is further operable to enable the user to modify the defined batch process in real-time,ii) wherein the modeler is further operable to enable the user to specify a batch process method selected from the group consisting of fine grained interfacing to mainframe applications, distributed processing, and high performance processing, andiii) wherein the modeler further enables the user to define one or more work variables for use within the defined batch process; and

    b) a manager that parses the flow rules to generate a programmatic implementation of the defined batch process.
