Abstract

An energy storage system, more particularly to a power distribution system for providing power for an indeterminate period of time. The power distribution system comprises means for converting the energy from an alternator to AC/DC circuits. The alternator transmits electric current to a battery, where an inverter is electrically connected to the battery and transmits AC power to low-load circuits. A DC control panel is connected to the battery and transmits electric current from the battery to low-load DC circuits. The power system is part of a portable toolbox. The system is connected to a vehicle'"'"'s charging system and would continually recharge it self. The battery for the system is connected to the vehicle'"'"'s alternator through an isolator, or connected directly to the alternator or battery of the vehicle and would transmit a direct electric current to the battery for the system which stores the charge. The inverter is electrically connected to the battery for the system and transmits an electric current from the battery to one or more low-load circuits.

9. A portable, self-regenerating power system for use in conjunction with a vehicle, where the vehicle includes an alternator, a first battery, an engine, and a starting mechanism, the self-regenerating power system stores energy for the delivery of electricity to devices at selected and isolated sites, said system comprising:

a.) at least one tool box;

b.) at least one inverter;

c.) at least one second battery;

d.) at least one energy collecting solar panel;

e.) an ON/OFF power switch and timer configured to be electrically connected between said first battery and said starting mechanism to make it capable of starting and stopping said engine;

f.) means for electrically connecting at least one power consuming load, where operation of said at least one power consuming load is by means of said at least one inverter and said at least one second battery, said second battery configured to be electrically connected to said vehicle alternator, such that when said second battery'"'"'s power has been reduced, said alternator operates to recharge said second battery, said energy collecting solar panel helping to maintain charging of said second battery.

2. The portable, self-regenerating power system according to claim 9, including a voltage regulator operable to control the power coming from said at least one solar panel for charging at least one said second battery.

3. The portable, self-regenerating power system according to claim 9, wherein at least one said tool box within which is electrically connected said at least one second battery, said at least one inverter, and said energy collecting solar panel removably mounted on said at least one tool box.

4. The portable, self-regenerating power system according to claim 9, including said at least one tool box is externally connected to said at least one second battery, said at least one inverter, and said at least one solar panel.

5. The portable, self-regenerating power system according to claim 3, wherein said means for electrically connecting at least one power consuming load comprises AC/DC ports and outlets within said at least one tool box.

6. The portable, self-regenerating power system according to claim 4, wherein said means for electrically connecting at least one power consuming load comprises AC/DC ports and outlets external of said at least one tool box.

7. The portable, self-regenerating power system according to claim 9, wherein said at least one inverter is electrically connected to said at least one second battery for transmitting an electric current from said at least one second battery to low load circuits.

8. The portable, self-regenerating power system according to claim 9, wherein said system is operatively controlled by a timer and key switch.
