Abstract

The present invention is directed to a system and methods for targeted advertisement and event promotion. The system comprises a web-based application which enables event promoters to create, execute and manage event promotional campaigns using advertisements, targeted promotional messages, target user search tools, session tracking tools, campaign analytical tools, event pricing tools, reporting tools, embedded calendar applications and other tools and services provided by the system. The system combines these tools to enable promoters to communicate with and market events to highly targeted audiences utilizing a wide array of communication tools. Furthermore, each promotional or advertisement campaign enriches and grows promoter'"'"'s target user list thus continually enlarging the overall group of trusted and targeted system users.

Claims

1. A method for promoting as event to target users, the method comprising:

collecting event information;

storing the collected event information in an event datastore;

generating an event webpage based at least in part on the collected event information, the webpage containing a program code operative to generate a user options menu comprising at least one of an option to add the event to a calendar and an option to invite one or more friends to the event;

sending a promotional message to one or more target users, the promotional message including at least a link to the event webpage; and

providing the event webpage to a target user in response to the user activating the link in the promotional message.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the program code comprises one of a script embedded in the event webpage and a link to retrieve a remotely stored script.

3. The method of claim 1 comprising in response to target user selecting the option to add the event to a calendar, generating a list of calendar applications.

4. The method of claim 3 comprising

receiving user selection of a calendar application from the generated list;

identifying the user; and

adding the event information to the user-selected calendar.

5. The method of claim 1 comprising in response to target user selecting the option to invite one or more friends,

prompting the target user to provide contact information for one or more friends of the target user, and

sending the promotional message to one or more friends of the target user.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the user options menu further comprises an option to set an event reminder.

7. The method of claim 6 comprising in response to target user selecting the option to set an event reminder,

prompting the target user to indicate a date for sending a reminder message;

and

sending a reminder message to the target user on the indicated date.

8. A method for promoting an event to users, the method comprising:

collecting event information;

storing the collected event information in an event datastore;

generating a graphical advertisement creative of the event based at least in part on the collected event information, wherein the advertisement creative comprises a program code operative to generate a user options menu comprising at least one of an option to add the event to a calendar and an option to invite one or more friends to the event; and

performing one or more of sending a promotional message to one or more target users, the promotional message containing an advertisement creative embedded therein and providing the advertisement creative for online publishing.

9. The method of claim 8, wherein the program code comprises one of a script embedded in the event webpage and a link to retrieve a remotely stored script.

10. The method of claim 8, wherein the advertisement creative comprises one of a banner advertisement, interstitial advertisement and sidebar advertisement.

11. The method of claim 8 comprising in response to target user selecting the option to add the event to a calendar, generating a list of calendar applications.

12. The method of claim 11 comprising

receiving user selection of a calendar application from the generated list;

identifying the user; and

adding the event information to the user-selected calendar.

13. The method of claim 8 comprising in response to target user selecting the option to invite one or more friends,

prompting the target user to provide contact information for one or more friends of the target user, and

sending the promotional message to one or more friends of the target user.

14. The method of claim 8, wherein the user options menu further comprises an option to set an event reminder.

15. The method of claim 14 comprising in response to target user selecting the option to set an event reminder,

prompting the target user to indicate a date for sending a reminder message;

and

sending a reminder message to the target user on the indicated date.

16. A system for promoting an event, the system comprising:

an interface component operative to collect an event information;

an event datastore operative to store the collected event information;

a promotional component operative to generate an event webpage based at least in part on the collected event information, wherein the webpage comprises a program code operative to generate a user options menu comprising at least one of an option to add the event to a calendar and an option to invite one or more friends to the event; and

a messaging component operative to send a promotional message to one or more target users, the promotional message including at least a link to the event webpage.

17. The system of claim 16 comprising an advertisement component operative to generate a graphical advertisement creative of the event based at least in part on the collected event information, wherein the advertisement creative comprises a program code operative to generate a user options menu comprising at least one of an option to add the event to a calendar and an option to invite one or more friends to the event.

18. The system of claim 17, comprising a calendar component operative to generate an online calendar to display at least a portion of the collected event information.

19. The system of claim 18, wherein in response to a user selecting the option to add the event to a calendar, the program code is operative to generate a list of calendar applications.

20. The system of claim 19, wherein the calendar component is operative to

receive an indication of the user selection of a calendar application from the generated list;

identify the user; and

add the event information to the user-selected calendar.

21. The system of claim 16, wherein in response to a user selecting the option to set an event reminder.

the program code is operative to prompt the user to indicate a date for sending a reminder message and

the messaging component is operative to send a reminder message to the user on the indicated date.

22. The system of claim 16, wherein in response to a user selecting the option to invite one or more friends to the event,

the program code is operative to prompt the user to provide a contact information for at least one friend, and

the messaging component is operative to send a promotional message to one or more friends of the user.

23. The system of claim 17 comprising an analytical component operative to determine one or more of

the number of target users who viewed the promotional message,

the number of target users who viewed the event advertisement creative,

the number of target users who viewed the event web page,

the number of target users who add the event to a calendar,

the number of target users who set an event reminder, and

the number of target users who invited one or more friends to the event.

25. The system of claim 17, wherein the program code comprises one of a script embedded in the event webpage and a link to retrieve a remotely stored script.

24. The system of claim 27 comprising a reporting component operative to generate a report indicating one or more of

the number of target users who viewed the promotional message,

the number of target users who viewed the event advertisement creative,

the number of target users who viewed the event web page,

the number of target users who add the event to a calendar,

the number of target users who set an event reminder, and

the number of target users who invited one or more friends to the event.
