Abstract

A simple and easy-to-use method is provided for dividing an html page at positions intended by the designer in accordance with the type of display device on which the page is to be displayed. A controller searches an html page for comment statements that have been formed according to predetermined grammatical rules and inserted in advance into the html page coding, divides the html page at positions at which the comment statements are found to have been inserted, restores to each divided html page the attribute data lost due to the division process, and generates the new html pages.

Claims

1. An html page converting apparatus for converting an html page into new html pages, comprising:

a searching portion for searching out comment statements that have been formed according to predetermined grammatical rules and inserted into the html page coding in advance;

a page dividing portion for dividing the html page at locations where the comment statements are found to have been inserted; and

a page generating portion for restoring to each of the divided pages the attribute data that has been lost due to the division process, and generating the new html pages.

2. An html page converting apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising an identification data memory portion for storing identification data identifying a size of a display area;

wherein

the searching portion searches out comment statements that contain the identification data from among the comment statements.

3. An html page converting apparatus according to claim 2, wherein the searching portion searches out the comment statements that contain the conditions satisfied by the identification data.

An html page converting apparatus according to claim 2, further comprising a warning data generating portion for generating warning data representing a warning message in a case where the size of the display area specified by the identification data is smaller than the size specified in any of the comment statements present in the html page coding.

An html page converting apparatus according to claim 3, further comprising a warning data generating portion for generating warning data in a case where the size of the display area specified by the identification data is smaller than the size specified in any of the comment statements present in the html page coding.

6. An html page converting apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the page dividing portion does not divide the page in a case where no comment statements are found by the searching portion.

7. An html page converting apparatus according to claim 2, wherein the page dividing portion does not divide the page in a case where no comment statements are found by the searching portion.

8. An html page converting apparatus according to claim 3, wherein the page dividing portion does not divide the page in a case where no comment statements are found by the searching portion.

9. An html page converting apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising:

a correlation data memory portion for storing the newly generated html pages together with correlation data correlating reciprocal relationships between the newly generated html pages;

a link inserting portion for inserting at least one link into each of the newly formed html pages in order to facilitate referencing of the new html pages with respect to the reciprocal relationships thereof; and

a page selecting portion for referencing the correlation data in response to receiving the selection of a link, and selecting the corresponding new html page.

10. An html page converting apparatus according to claim 2, further comprising:

a correlation data memory portion for storing the newly generated html pages together with correlation data correlating reciprocal relationships between the newly generated html pages;

a link inserting portion for inserting at least one link into each of the newly formed html pages in order to facilitate referencing of the new html pages with respect to the reciprocal relationships thereof; and

a page selecting portion for referencing the correlation data in response to receiving the selection of a link, and selecting the corresponding new html page.

11. An html page converting apparatus according to claim 3, further comprising:

a correlation data memory portion for storing the newly generated html pages together with correlation data correlating reciprocal relationships between the newly generated html pages;

a link inserting portion for inserting at least one link into each of the newly formed html pages in order to facilitate referencing of the new html pages with respect to their reciprocal relationships thereof; and

a page selecting portion for referencing the correlation data in response to receiving selection of a link, and selecting the corresponding new html page.

12. An html page converting apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising:

a discrimination data memory portion for associating with each of the new html pages discrimination data that identifies each of the new html pages, and storing the discrimination data;

a discrimination data inserting portion for inserting into each of the new html pages the discrimination data representing the page to which a transition is to be made so as to facilitate transition between the new html pages in a predetermined order; and

a page selecting portion for referencing the discrimination data in response to receiving a request to make a transition, and selecting the new html page corresponding to the discrimination data.

13. An html page converting apparatus according to claim 2, further comprising:

a discrimination data memory portion for associating with each of the new html pages discrimination data that identifies each of the new html pages, and storing the discrimination data;

a discriminating data inserting portion for inserting into each of the new html pages discrimination data that indicates the page to which a transition is to be made so as to facilitate transition between the new html pages in a predetermined order; and

a page selecting portion for referencing the discrimination data in response to receiving a request to make a transition, and selecting the new html page corresponding to the discrimination data.

14. An html page converting apparatus according to claim 3, further comprising:

a discrimination data memory portion for associating with each of the new html pages discrimination data that identifies each of the new html pages, and storing the discrimination data;

a discrimination data inserting portion for inserting into each of the new html pages discrimination data that indicates the page to which a transition is to be made so as to facilitate transition between the new html pages in a predetermined order; and

a page selecting portion for referencing the discrimination data in response to receiving a request to make a transition, and selecting the new html page corresponding to the discrimination data.

15. An html converting apparatus according to claim 12, further comprising:

an input data memory portion for storing input data that has been input to form elements contained in the new html pages; and

a reconstituting portion for assembling the input data and reconstituting the input data as input data corresponding to the pre-divided html page.

16. An html converting apparatus according to claim 13, further comprising:

an input data memory portion for storing input data that has been input to form elements contained in the new html pages; and

a reconstituting portion for assembling the input data and reconstituting the input data as input data corresponding to the pre-divided html page.

17. An html converting apparatus according to claim 14, further comprising:

an input data memory portion for storing input data that has been input to form elements contained in the new html pages; and

a reconstituting portion for assembling the input data and reconstituting the input data as input data corresponding to the pre-divided html page.

18. A method for causing a computer to convert an html page into new html pages, comprising steps of:

searching out comment statements that have been formed according to predetermined grammatical rules and inserted into the html page coding in advance;

dividing the html page at locations where the comment statements are found to have been inserted; and

restoring to each of the divided pages attribute data that has been lost due to the division process, and generating the new html pages.

19. A computer readable media recording a program for causing the conversion of an html page to new html pages in a computer, the program executing steps of:

searching out comment statements that have been formed according to predetermined grammatical rules and inserted into the html page coding in advance,

dividing the html page at locations where the comment statements are found to have been inserted; and

restoring to each of the divided pages attribute data that has been lost due to the division process, and generating the new html pages.
