Abstract

The present invention discloses systems for managing files according to application. A digital storage system including: a storage memory having program code configured: to identify an application identity of an application issuing a storage command to access a file; and to adjust a storage mode of the file according to the application identity; and a processor for executing the program code. Preferably, the identifying is performed using a PID that is an indicator of the application identity. Preferably, the adjusting includes adjusting the storage mode according to the storage command. Preferably, the adjusting is performed using an SAT and/or an AST. A digital storage system including: a storage memory having program code configured: to identify an application scenario associated with a storage command to access a file; and to adjust a storage mode of the file according to the application scenario; and a processor for executing the program code.

Claims

1. A digital storage system, the system comprising:

(a) a storage memory having program code configured;

(i) to identify an application identity of an application issuing a storage command to access a file; and

(ii) to adjust a storage mode of said file according to said application identity; and

(b) a processor for executing said program code.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein said identifying is performed using a PID that is an indicator of said application identity.

3. The system of claim 1, wherein said adjusting includes adjusting said storage mode according to said storage command.

4. The system of claim 1, wherein said adjusting is performed using an SAT.

5. The system of claim 1, wherein said adjusting is performed using an AST.

6. A digital storage system, the system comprising:

(a) a storage memory having program code configured;

(i) to identify an application scenario associated with a storage command to access a file; and

(ii) to adjust a storage mode of said file according to said application scenario; and

(b) a processor for executing said program code.

7. The system of claim 6, wherein said adjusting includes adjusting said storage mode according to said storage command.

8. The system of claim 6, wherein said adjusting is performed using an SAT.

9. The system of claim 6, wherein said adjusting is performed using an AST.

10. A digital storage system, the storage system comprising:

(a) a host system;

(b) a storage device operationally connected to said host system;

(c) an OS running on said host system; and

(d) at least one application, running on said host system, operative to access a file in said storage device;

wherein said OS is configured to adjust a storage mode of said file according to said at least one application.

11. The storage system of claim 10, wherein said adjusting includes adjusting said storage mode according to at least one application-scenario parameter of said at least one application.

12. The storage system of claim 10, wherein said adjusting is performed using an SAT.

13. The storage system of claim 10, wherein said adjusting is performed using an AST.
