Abstract

An apparatus for processing session related protocol signaling messages includes a simplification element. The simplification element may be configured to receive a message associated with a session related protocol, to determine whether the message is a per call based message and, in response to a determination that the message is the per call based message, to interpret the per call based message without the removed per session based information. The per call based message is free of per session based information that has been removed.

Claims

1. A method for processing session related protocol signaling messages comprising:

receiving a message associated with a session related protocol;

determining whether the message is a per call based message; and

in response to a determination that the message is the per call based message, removing at least some per session based information from the per call based message.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein receiving the message comprises receiving a message associated with a push-to-talk service.

3. The method of claim 1, further comprising encoding a first portion of the message using a non-binary based encoding mechanism indicating that a remainder of the message is binary encoded.

4. The method of claim 3, further comprising communicating the message to a network node.

5. A computer program product for processing session related protocol signaling messages, the computer program product comprising at least one computer-readable storage medium having computer-readable program code portions stored therein, the computer-readable program code portions comprising:

a first executable portion for receiving a message associated with a session related protocol;

a second executable portion for determining whether the message is a per call based message; and

a third executable portion for, in response to a determination that the message is the per call based message, removing at least some per session based information from the per call based message.

6. The computer program product of claim 5, wherein the first executable portion includes instructions for receiving a message associated with a push-to-talk service.

7. The computer program product of claim 5, further comprising a fourth executable portion for encoding a first portion of the message using a non-binary based encoding mechanism indicating that a remainder of the message is binary encoded.

8. The computer program product of claim 7, further comprising a fifth executable portion for communicating the message to a network node.

9. An apparatus for processing session related protocol signaling messages, the apparatus comprising a simplification element configured to:

receive a message associated with a session related protocol;

determine whether the message is a per call based message; and

in response to a determination that the message is the per call based message, remove at least some per session based information from the per call based message.

10. The apparatus of claim 9, wherein the simplification element is further configured to receive a message associated with a push-to-talk service.

11. The apparatus of claim 9, further comprising a code processing element in communication with the simplification element, the code processing element being configured to encode a first portion of the message using a non-binary based encoding mechanism indicating that a remainder of the message is binary encoded.

12. The apparatus of claim 11, wherein the apparatus is configured to communicate the message to a network node.

13. A method for processing session related protocol signaling messages comprising:

receiving a message associated with a session related protocol;

determining whether the message is a per call based message, wherein the per call based message is free of per session based information that has been removed; and

in response to a determination that the message is the per call based message, interpreting the per call based message without the removed per session based information.

14. The method of claim 13, wherein receiving the message comprises receiving a message associated with a push-to-talk service.

15. The method of claim 13, wherein receiving the message comprises receiving a message having a first portion of the message encoded using a non-binary based encoding mechanism indicating that a remainder of the message is binary encoded.

16. The method of claim 15, further comprising decoding the first portion of the message using the non-binary based encoding mechanism and then switching to binary decode the remainder of the message.

17. A computer program product for processing session related protocol signaling messages, the computer program product comprising at least one computer-readable storage medium having computer-readable program code portions stored therein, the computer-readable program code portions comprising:

a first executable portion for receiving a message associated with a session related protocol;

a second executable portion for determining whether the message is a per call based message, wherein the per call based message is free of per session based information that has been removed; and

a third executable portion for, in response to a determination that the message is the per call based message, interpreting the per call based message without the removed per session based information.

18. The computer program product of claim 17, wherein the first executable portion includes instructions for receiving a message associated with a push-to-talk service.

19. The computer program product of claim 17, wherein the first executable portion includes instructions for receiving a message having a first portion of the message encoded using a non-binary based encoding mechanism indicating that a remainder of the message is binary encoded.

20. The computer program product of claim 19, further comprising a fourth executable portion for decoding the first portion of the message using the non-binary based encoding mechanism and then switching to binary decode the remainder of the message.

21. An apparatus for processing session related protocol signaling messages, the apparatus comprising a simplification element configured to:

receive a message associated with a session related protocol;

determine whether the message is a per call based message, wherein the per call based message is free of per session based information that has been removed; and

in response to a determination that the message is the per call based message, interpret the per call based message without the removed per session based information.

22. The apparatus of claim 21, wherein the simplification element is further configured to receive a message associated with a push-to-talk service.

23. The apparatus of claim 21, further comprising a code processing element in communication with the simplification element, the code processing element being configured to receive a message having a first portion of the message encoded using a non-binary based encoding mechanism indicating that a remainder of the message is binary encoded.

24. The apparatus of claim 21, wherein the code processing element is further configured to decode the first portion of the message using the non-binary based encoding mechanism and then switch to binary decode the remainder of the message.
