1. A method for manufacturing a liquid crystal display device, comprising:
- forming a seal pattern comprising a sealant over one of a pair of substrates;
dropping a plurality of droplets of smectic liquid crystal over one of the pair of substrates on which rubbing treatment is performed so that the plurality of droplets are aligned in a direction parallel to a direction of the rubbing treatment; and
attaching the pair of substrates to each other with the sealant to sandwich the smectic liquid crystal,wherein the plurality of droplets spread in the seal pattern.

A method for manufacturing a liquid crystal display device, including dropping smectic liquid crystal by a dropping method in which a plurality of droplets of smectic liquid crystal are dropped to an alignment film so that the droplets are aligned in a line which is parallel to a rubbing direction of the alignment film which is formed in a region surrounded by a seal pattern of a sealant over a substrate.
