Abstract

A personalized adhesive cover for a consumer device includes multiple layers. In one implementation, an adhesive cover includes a top laminate layer adhered to a base layer that is adhered to a bottom adhesive layer. The base layer is treated to facilitate acceptance of a personalized design applied to the middle layer. The adhesive cover is contoured to partially or completely cover one or more sides of a consumer device. The cover can include one or more separate pieces, apertures and cutouts, for example, so that the cover does not interfere with the functions of a device.

Claims

1. An adhesive cover for covering a surface of a device, comprising;

a top layer comprising an over laminate;

a base layer adhered to the top layer, the base layer comprising vinyl or polyolefin and having an design applied thereto; and

a bottom layer adhered to the middle layer comprising an adhesive configured to adhere the adhesive cover to a device.

2. The adhesive cover of claim 1, wherein the base layer is corona treated.

3. The adhesive cover of claim 1, further comprising a primer applied to a surface of the base layer, wherein the primer facilitates adhesion of the design to the surface of the base layer.

4. The adhesive cover of claim 1, wherein the design is applied to the base layer by a digital printer.

5. The adhesive cover of claim 1, wherein the design is applied to the base layer by a silk screen.

6. The adhesive cover of claim 1, wherein the design comprises an ink selected from a group consisting of a metal ink and a glow-in-the-dark ink.

7. The adhesive cover of claim 1, wherein the design is applied to the base layer by etching.

8. The adhesive cover of claim 1, wherein the design is applied to the base layer by chemically burning the design into the base layer.

9. The adhesive cover of claim 1, wherein the cover has a shape that facilitates adhering the cover to one or more sides of the device.

10. The adhesive cover of claim 1, wherein the cover comprises one or more apertures, tear away sections, punch out sections, peel away sections or a combination thereof.

11. The adhesive cover of claim 1, wherein the design comprises one or more customized colors, text, names, company brands, slogans, patterns, images, graphics, photographs, logos, advertisements, or a combination thereof.

12. The adhesive cover of claim 1, further comprising one or more decorative pieces affixed to an outer surface of the cover.

13. The adhesive cover of claim 1, further comprising pre-printed pattern adapted to facilitate placement of decorative pieces on the cover.

14. The adhesive cover of claim 13, wherein the pre-printed pattern comprises a plurality of dots, each dot indicating a location for a user to place a decorative piece.

15. An adhesive cover capable of adhering to a surface of a device, comprising;

a first layer comprising an adhesive configured to adhere the adhesive cover to a device;

a second layer comprising a fabric material; and

a third layer sandwiched between the first layer and the second layer, the third layer comprising a material that provides stiffness to the adhesive cover,

wherein the cover has a shape that facilitates adhering the cover to one or more sides of the device.

16. The adhesive cover of claim 15, wherein the fabric is Lextramax flock transfer material.

17. The adhesive cover of claim 15, wherein a design is applied to an outer surface of the second layer.

18. The adhesive cover of claim 17, wherein the design was applied to the second layer via screen-printing.

19. The adhesive cover of claim 17, wherein the design was applied to the second layer via a digital printer.

20. An adhesive cover capable of adhering to a surface of a device, comprising;

a first top layer having a design applied to an underside thereof;

a second layer adhered to the underside of the first layer; and

a third layer adhered to the second layer opposite the first top layer, the third layer configured to adhere the cover to a device,

wherein the cover has a shape that facilitates adhering the cover to one or more sides of the device.

21. The adhesive cover of claim 20, wherein the design is applied to the first layer via a digital printer.

22. The adhesive cover of claim 20, wherein the design is applied to the first layer via a silk screen.

23. The adhesive cover of claim 20, wherein the third layer comprises a non-permanent adhesive and a release liner.

24. The adhesive cover of claim 20, further comprising a primer layer is applied to the underside of the first layer to facilitate application of the design to the underside.
