Abstract

A method and system for delivering content to a plurality of devices is provided. In one embodiment, the method may be for delivering content elements of one or more presentations to a device configured to communicate via a wireless data network, wherein the content elements include static content elements, dynamic content elements, and on-demand content elements. The method may comprise delivering to the device, data, such as compilation data, of the content elements included in the one or more presentations; delivering the static content elements to the device via the wireless data network during one or more time periods of increased available wireless data network capacity; delivering the dynamic content elements to the device via the wireless data network substantially according to a schedule; and delivering the on-demand content elements to the device via the wireless data network substantially immediately after a user request for an on-demand content element. In addition, the method may comprise determining that the device is accessible via a communication link, such as a wireless local area network, that does not include the wireless data network and delivering one or more content elements to the device via the communication link. Further, the method may comprise determining that the device is communicatively coupled to an internet access device and delivering one or more content elements to the device via the internet access device.

Claims

16-1. The method of claim 1, wherein delivery of dynamic content elements is accorded a higher priority than delivery of static content elements.

26. A method of delivering content elements of one or more presentations to a device configured to communicate via a wireless data network, wherein the content elements include content elements of a plurality of content categories, the method comprising:

scheduling delivery of content elements of a first content category to the device multiple times in a day;

delivering content elements of the first category to the device via the wireless data network substantially according the scheduling; and

delivering content elements of a second category to the device via the wireless data network during one or more time periods of increased available wireless data network capacity.

27. The method of claim 26, further comprising:

receiving a user request for a first content element; and

in response to receiving the user request, substantially immediately transmitting a request for the first content element.

28. The method of claim 26, further comprising:

receiving an indication of a user request for a first content element; and

in response to receiving the indication, substantially immediately transmitting the first content element to the device.

29. The method of claim 26, wherein the first category of content comprises music and the second category of content is selected from the group of traffic and weather.

30. The method of claim 26, wherein the wireless data network comprises a wireless mobile telephone network.

31. A method of delivering content elements of one or more presentations to a device configured to communicate via a wireless data network, wherein the content elements include static content elements, and on-demand content elements, the method comprising:

delivering to the device, data of the content elements included in the one or more presentations;

delivering to the device via the wireless data network, static content elements (1) during one or more time periods of increased available wireless data network capacity, or (2) when the device is accessible via a communication link that does not include the wireless data network; and

delivering to the device via the wireless data network, on-demand content elements substantially immediately after a user request for an on-demand content element.

32. The method of claim 31, wherein the contents elements further include dynamic content elements, the method further comprising delivering dynamic content elements substantially according to a schedule.

33. The method of claim 31, wherein said delivering static content elements comprises delivering static content elements via the wireless data network (1) during one or more time periods of increased available wireless data network capacity and when it is determined that the device is connected to a power source, or (2) when device is accessible via a communication link that does not include the mobile telephone network.
