Abstract

The invention relates to a method for setting audio parameters in a digital signal processor in an electronic device including at least one auxiliary device connection for connecting at least one auxiliary device. At least some of the audio parameters can be loaded into the digital signal processor during operation of the electronic device either from the auxiliary device or from a writeable mass storage.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

loading at least one audio parameter that controls processing in a digital signal processor from an auxiliary device into the digital signal processor, said digital signal processor configured to use said at least one audio parameter during operation of at least one other device when the auxiliary device is to the at least one other device;

said loading comprising communicating digital data between the at least one other device and a controller in said auxiliary device.

2. The method according to claim 1, further comprising loading the audio parameters at a stage when the auxiliary device is connected to or detached from the at least one other device or when the auxiliary device changes its audio mode.

3. The method according to claim 2, said loading further comprising instructing the at least one other device to transmit a command to a controller of the auxiliary device to send at least one audio parameter to the other device.

4. The method according to claim 1, wherein said audio parameter is other than data used to recognize the type of auxiliary device.

5. The method according to claim 1, wherein said at least one audio parameter is loaded into the digital signal processor from the auxiliary device.

6. An apparatus comprising:

a digital signal processor configured to process audio signals;

an interface configured to use at least one audio parameter that controls the processing of audio signals in the digital signal processor, said at least one audio parameter relating to audio properties of an auxiliary device when connected to at least one other device; and

a communication interface configured to communicate with a controller of said auxiliary device to load said at least one audio parameter from the auxiliary device to said interface and to use said at least one audio parameter during operation of the other device when the auxiliary device is connected to the other device, said communication interface being configured to conduct communication of digital data between said controller of the auxiliary device and said apparatus.

7. The apparatus according to claim 6, further comprising an input device configured to detect a connection of the auxiliary device to the other device.

8. The apparatus according to claim 7, wherein the input device is further configured to provide a detection data signal indicative of the connection of the auxiliary device to the at least one other device.

9. The apparatus according to claim 6, wherein the apparatus comprises a transmitter/receiver unit of a mobile station.

10. The apparatus according to claim 6, wherein said at least one audio parameter is other than data used to recognize the type of auxiliary device.

11. The apparatus according to claim 6, wherein said at least one audio parameter is loaded into the digital signal processor from the auxiliary device.

12. The apparatus according to claim 6, wherein said communication interface is configured to transmit a command to the controller of the auxiliary device to send at least one audio parameter from the auxiliary device to the apparatus.

13. The apparatus according to claim 6 comprising a memory configured to store said at least one audio parameter loaded from the auxiliary device.

14. An auxiliary device comprising:

a microcontroller;

a memory, operatively associated with the microcontroller, configured to store at least one audio parameter relating to audio properties of the auxiliary device and associated with the operation of the auxiliary device to control the processing of audio signals in a digital signal processor of at least one other device when the auxiliary device is connected to the at least one other device;

a connection configured to connect the auxiliary device with the other device; and

an interface within said microcontroller configured to send the at least one audio parameter from the auxiliary device to the other device.

15. A computer-readable storage medium encoded with instructions that, when executed by a processor, perform:

establishing a connection between a microcontroller of the auxiliary device and the digital signal processor for communication of digital data;

using said connection to receive from the microcontroller at least one audio parameter relating to audio properties of the auxiliary device; and

using by the digital signal processor said at least one audio parameter during operation of at least one other device when the auxiliary device is connected to the at least one other device.

16. The computer-readable storage medium method according to claim 15 encoded with instructions that, when executed by a processor, perform inputting detection data indicative of connection of the auxiliary device to the other device.

17. The computer-readable storage medium method according to claim 15 encoded with instructions that, when executed by a processor, perform transmitting a command to the controller of the auxiliary device to send at least one audio parameter from the auxiliary device to the apparatus.

18. An apparatus comprising:

a digital signal processor configured to process audio signals;

an interface configured to use at least one audio parameter that controls the processing of audio signals in the digital signal processor, said at least one audio parameter relating to audio properties of an auxiliary device when connected to the apparatus; and

a communication interface configured to communicate with a controller of said auxiliary device to load said at least one audio parameter from the auxiliary device to said interface and to use said at least one audio parameter during operation of the apparatus when the auxiliary device is connected to the apparatus, said communication interface being configured to conduct communication of digital data between said controller of the auxiliary device and said apparatus.

19. The apparatus according to claim 18, wherein said communication interface is configured to transmit a command to the controller of the auxiliary device to send at least one audio parameter from the auxiliary device to the apparatus.

20. A mobile communication device comprising:

a digital signal processor configured to process audio signals;

an interface configured to use at least one audio parameter that controls the processing of audio signals in the digital signal processor, said at least one audio parameter relating to audio properties of an auxiliary device when connected to the mobile communication device; and

a communication interface configured to communicate with a controller of said auxiliary device to load said at least one audio parameter from the auxiliary device to said interface and to use said at least one audio parameter during operation of the mobile communication device when the auxiliary device is connected to the mobile communication device, said communication interface being configured to conduct communication of digital data between said controller of the auxiliary device and said mobile communication device.

21. The apparatus according to claim 20, wherein said communication interface is configured to transmit a command to the controller of the auxiliary device to send at least one audio parameter from the auxiliary device to the apparatus.
