Abstract

A personalized way to digitally record a person'"'"'s physical activities over time serves web searching, business advertising, nostalgia, security and object tracing purposes. The chronological digital history of the person'"'"'s physical presence over a time includes (i) digital network entries from other members who hold their portable wireless short range device near the person'"'"'s device and transmit a URL or other key data and (ii) digital member entries such a digital photograph of a store sign. The digital network entries and digital member entries are automatically transmitted to a database located on a telecommunications network at a time of entry. Advertisers can transmit to members when members enter premises of advertiser'"'"'s store. Upon sign-up online, the authentication data uniquely associated with an account is provided and key data they want to transmit is associated with the account. Digital histories can be used to improve web searching and networking opportunities.

Claims

1. A viewable digital history of a person'"'"'s physical presence over a time, comprising:

a chronological collection of entries comprising

digital network entries made by the person, said person being a member of a network, at points during the time, said digital network entries comprised of key data transmitted from a network device of a member of the network to a proximate network device of the person, said key data having been previously entered into a database remotely located on a telecommunications network,

digital member entries made at points during the time by the person, said digital member entries representing sensory images perceived by and considered significant by the member and captured by the network device of the member,

wherein said digital network entries and said digital member entries are automatically transmitted to the database at a time of entry after inputting into the network device authentication data uniquely associated with an account of the person on the database, said digital network entries and digital member entries being listed in the digital history chronologically,

the digital network entries and digital member entries processed by software located in the network device,

wherein access to all of the chronological collection of entries in the digital history for viewing thereof can be accomplished by the person by accessing the database after providing the authentication data,

said digital history being updateable by the person.

2. The digital history of claim 1, wherein the key data is either a URL or an electronic business card of a member of the network.

3. The digital history of claim 2, wherein the key data is a URL.

The digital history of claim 1, wherein data is transmitted from the network device of a member of the network to the network device of the person after the person inputs a cue on the person'"'"'s network device to receive data and wherein after transmission of the data the person inputs a cue to receive said data.

5. The digital history of claim 2, wherein digital network entries automatically include a viewable recordation of time and place of entry and wherein digital member entries automatically include a viewable recordation of time and place of entry.

6. The digital history of claim 5, wherein the place of entry is obtained from a global positioning system that is in communication with the person.

7. The digital history of claim 1, wherein digital network entries automatically include a viewable recordation of time and place of entry and wherein digital member entries automatically include a viewable recordation of time and place of entry.

8. The digital history of claim 7, wherein the place of entry is obtained from a global positioning system that is in communication with the person.

9. The digital history of claim 1, wherein the digital network entries are comprised of data transmitted from a network device of a business member of the network to a network device of the person when the person enters a premises of the business member of the network.

10. The digital history of claim 9, wherein digital network entries automatically include a recordation of time and place of entry and wherein digital member entries automatically include a recordation of time and place of entry.

11. The digital history of claim 10, wherein the place of entry is obtained from a global positioning system that is in communication with the person.

12. The digital history of claim 9, wherein the key data is either a URL or an electronic business card of a member of the network.

13. The digital history of claim 12, wherein the key data is a URL.

14. The digital history of claim 12, wherein digital network entries automatically include a viewable recordation of time and place of entry and wherein digital member entries automatically include a viewable recordation of time and place of entry.

15. The digital history of claim 14, wherein the place of entry is obtained from a global positioning system that is in communication with the person.

16. The digital history of claim 1, wherein the network device of the person is carried on the person.

17. The digital history of claim 16, wherein the key data transmitted is comprised of an electronic business card.

18. The digital history of claim 16, wherein the key data transmitted is comprised of a URL.

19. The digital history of claim 9, wherein the key data transmitted is comprised of an advertisement of the business member.

20. The digital history of claim 1, wherein an advertisement appears on a leg history screen, said advertisement calculated to be attractive to the person based on a content of URLs that appear as digital network entries in said digital history.

21. The digital history of claim 1, wherein the digital history is presented in a form of a monthly calendar wherein dates on said monthly calendar have a plurality of digital network entries and/or digital member entries.

22. A method of accumulating a viewable and updateable chronological digital history of a person'"'"'s physical presence over a time, comprising:

the person, who is a member of a network, signing up and providing authentication data and key data to a database remotely located on a telecommunications network,

the person inputting authentication data into a network device, said network device containing software allowing said device to interact with the database and process digital network entries and digital member entries,

the person making digital network entries at points during the time, said digital network entries comprised of key data transmitted from a network device of a member of the network to a proximate network device of the person,

the person making digital member entries at points during the time, said digital member entries representing sensory images perceived by and considered significant by the member and captured by the network device of the member,

wherein said digital network entries and said digital member entries are automatically transmitted at a time of entry to an account at the database uniquely associated with the authentication data, and

wherein access to all of the chronological collection of entries in the digital history for viewing thereof can be accomplished by the person by accessing the database and providing the authentication data.

23. The method of claim 22, wherein the key data includes either a URL of the person or an electronic business card of the person.

24. The method of claim 23, wherein the key data is a URL of the person.

The method of claim 22, wherein data is transmitted from the network device of a member of the network to the network device of the person after the person inputs a cue on the person'"'"'s network device to receive data and wherein after transmission of the data the person inputs a cue to receive said data.

26. The method of claim 23, wherein digital network entries automatically include a viewable recordation of time and place of entry and wherein digital member entries automatically include a viewable recordation of time and place of entry.

27. The method of claim 26, wherein the place of entry is obtained from a global positioning system that is in communication with the person.

28. The method of claim 22, wherein digital network entries automatically include a viewable recordation of time and place of entry and wherein digital member entries automatically include a viewable recordation of time and place of entry.

29. The method of claim 28, wherein the place of entry is obtained from a global positioning system that is in communication with the person.

30. The method of claim 22, wherein the digital network entries are comprised of data transmitted from a network device of a business member of the network to a network device of the person when the person enters a premises of the business member of the network.

31. The method of claim 30, wherein digital network entries automatically include a recordation of time and place of entry and wherein digital member entries automatically include a recordation of time and place of entry.

32. The method of claim 31, wherein the place of entry is obtained from a global positioning system that is in communication with the person.

33. The method of claim 30, wherein the key data includes either a URL of the person or an electronic business card of the person.

34. The method of claim 33, wherein the key data is a URL of the person.

35. The method of claim 33, wherein digital network entries automatically include a viewable recordation of time and place of entry and wherein digital member entries automatically include a viewable recordation of time and place of entry.

36. The method of claim 35, wherein the place of entry is obtained from a global positioning system that is in communication with the person.

37. The method of claim 22, wherein the network device of the person is carried on the person.

38. The method of claim 37, wherein the data transmitted is comprised of an electronic business card.

39. The method of claim 37, wherein the data transmitted is comprised of a URL.

40. The method of claim 30, wherein the data transmitted is comprised of an advertisement of the business member.

41. The method of claim 22, wherein the person also updates the digital history with additional digital network entries and/or additional member entries.

42. The method of claim 22, wherein the digital history is presented in a form of a monthly calendar wherein dates on said monthly calendar have a plurality of digital network entries and/or digital member entries.

43. A viewable digital history of a person'"'"'s physical presence over a time, comprising:

a collection of entries including at least digital network entries, said digital network entires made by the person, said person being a member of a network, at points during the time, said digital network entries comprised of key data transmitted from a network device of a member of the network to a proximate network device of the person, said key data including URLs and having been previously entered into a database located on a telecommunications network,

wherein said digital network entries are automatically transmitted to the database at a time of entry after inputting into the network device authentication data uniquely associated with an account of the person on the database,

the digital network entries processed by software located in the network device,

wherein access to all of the collection of digital network entries in the digital history for viewing thereof can be accomplished by the person by accessing the database after providing the authentication data,

said digital history being updateable by the person.

44. A method of using the digital history of claim 43 in situations wherein a searching person searches a database of URLs for a certain kind of business in a particular geographic area by means of a search algorithm that considers a plurality of factors in ranking search results of URLs, the method comprising:

(i) providing the search algorithm with access to the digital histories of persons who are members of the network,

(ii) searching URLs in said digital histories to identify a target business of said kind in the particular geographic area wherein a URL of said target business appears in a digital history of a useful person who is a member of the network, the digital history of said useful person also including a URL for a second business of the same kind located in a second geographic area, wherein the searching person has in his digital history the URL of the second business, and (iii) including in the plurality of factors an assignment of priority to the URL of the target business.

45. A method of using the digital history of claim 43 in situations wherein a searching person searches a database of URLs for a certain first kind of business by means of a search algorithm that considers a plurality of factors in ranking search results of URLs, the method comprising:

(i) providing the search algorithm with access to the digital histories of persons who are members of the network,

(ii) searching through URLs in said digital histories to identify a target business of said first kind wherein a URL of said target business appears in a digital history of a useful person who is a member of the network, the digital history of said useful person also including a URL for a second business of a second kind wherein the searching person has in his digital history the URL of the second business, and

(iii) including in the plurality of factors an assignment of priority to the URL of the target business.

46. The method of claim 43, wherein the first kind of business in a certain topic category and the second business of the second kind is also in the same topic category.
