Abstract

A biosensor comprises a space part for sucking and housing a sample formed of two upper and lower plates, the two plates being stuck together by an adhesive layer, the space part for sucking and housing the sample being constituted so as to be partially opened in the peripheral part and partially closed by the adhesive layer, and has a working electrode having at least glucose oxidase immobilized thereon and a counter electrode on the same plane of the plate.

Claims

1. A biosensor comprising:

two layers and at least one electrode positioned with respect to the layers to provide a biosensor having a sample receiving space; and

;

an enzyme reaction layer having a thickness of about 1-200 μ

m in the sample receiving space,

wherein the biosensor is capable of analysis of a sample having a volume of no more than about 1.0 μ

L.

2. The biosensor of claim 1, wherein the sample receiving space has a volume of no more than about 1 microliter.

3. The biosensor of claim 1, wherein the sample receiving space has a volume of no more than about 0.5 microliter.

4. The biosensor of claim 1, wherein a sample having a volume of no more than about 0.5 μ

L is analyzed.

5. The biosensor of claim 1, further comprising a tapered part.

6. The biosensor of claim 5, wherein at least one said electrode has at least a portion that is provided on the tapered part.

7. The biosensor of claim 5, wherein the tapered part includes a sample receiving opening.

8. The biosensor of claim 1, wherein at one said electrode comprises gold material.

9. The biosensor of claim 1, wherein the enzyme reaction layer comprises glucose oxidase or glucose dehydrogenase.

10. The biosensor of claim 1, further comprising at least two electrodes that are provided on a same layer.

11. The biosensor of claim 1, further comprising at least two electrodes that are provided on different layers.

12. The biosensor of claim 1, further comprising at least three electrodes that are provided on a same layer.

13. The biosensor of claim 1, further comprising at least three electrodes and two electrodes are provided on different layers.

14. The biosensor of claim 1, further comprising at least two electrodes, and at least two electrodes are separated by a distance from about 100 μ

m to about 500 μ

m.

15. The biosensor of claim 1, wherein the two layers are substantially the same length.

16. The biosensor of claim 1, wherein the two layers are different lengths.

17. The biosensor of claim 1, further comprising a third layer having at least one adhesive.

18. The biosensor of claim 1, further comprising a device to aid in the analysis of the sample, and the device is started upon connection of the biosensor with the device.
