Abstract

A biosensor comprises a space part for sucking and housing a sample formed of two upper and lower plates, the two plates being stuck together by an adhesive layer, the space part for sucking and housing the sample being constituted so as to be partially opened in the peripheral part and partially closed by the adhesive layer, and has a working electrode having at least glucose oxidase immobilized thereon and a counter electrode on the same plane of the plate.

Claims

1. A biosensor comprising:

a first part of an electrode disposed on a first layer of a biosensor and a second part of the electrode disposed on a second layer of the biosensor; and

a contact transfer component associating the first part of the electrode with the second part of the electrode.

2. The biosensor of claim 1, wherein the contact transfer component comprises a third layer of the biosensor.

3. The biosensor of claim 2, wherein the third layer is an adhesive layer.

4. The biosensor of claim 2, third layer comprises a bore therethrough and the contact is achieved through the bore.

5. The biosensor of claim 1, wherein the contact transfer component comprises a conductor.

6. The biosensor of claim 5, wherein the conductor comprises silver or carbon.

7. The biosensor of claim 2, wherein a sample receiving space is provided between the layers, and the space has a volume that is no more than about 0.5 μ

L.

8. The biosensor of claim 1, wherein at least one said plate including an end having a tapered part.

9. The biosensor of claim 1, wherein at least one said electrode is a working electrode having a tip part, wherein said working electrode is provided on said tapered part.

10. The biosensor of claim 1, further comprising a counter electrode.

11. The biosensor of claim 1, wherein at one said electrode is constructed of a gold material.

12. The biosensor of claim 1, further comprising an analyte-responsive enzyme.

13. The biosensor of claim 12, wherein the analyte-responsive enzyme comprising of at least one of glucose oxidase or glucose dehydrogenase.

14. The biosensor of claim 1, wherein at least one electrode is a working electrode and a counter electrode are provided on a same layer.

15. The biosensor of claim 1, wherein at least two electrodes are separated by a space from about 100 μ

m to about 500 μ

m.

16. The biosensor of claim 1, wherein said electrodes include at least one working electrode, one counter electrode and one reference electrode and are provided on a same layer.

17. The biosensor of claim 14, wherein said same layer is the first layer and a length of the first layer is greater than a length of the second layer.

18. The biosensor of claim 14, wherein the working electrode and the counter electrode are provided on different layers.

19. The biosensor of claim 8, further comprising a reference electrode and a tip part of the reference electrode is provided on the tapered part.

20. The biosensor of claim 2, further comprising a third layer having at least one adhesive.

21. The biosensor of claim 1, wherein the biosensor is connectable to a device body having a control part including a display part, and the biosensor further comprises a biosensor insertion signal terminal for interconnecting, upon connecting the biosensor to the device body, two input terminals of the device body to start the control part of the device body.

The biosensor of claim 1, wherein the biosensor is connectable to a device body having a control part including a display part and the biosensor further comprises a biosensor insertion signal terminal for interconnecting, upon connecting the biosensor to the device body, two input terminals of the device body to start the control part of the device body.

23. The biosensor of claim 8, wherein the tapered part includes an opening for admitting sample.

24. The biosensor of claim 1, further comprising a space for housing a sample and the opening is in communication with the space for housing a sample.
